Have you tried doing the solution with R' F R F' instead? It might be faster as it's just a sledgehammer. Also same scramble as a couple of the top 10 2x2 singles officially(which were in different comps!)

Yeah, I have.
It is actually faster for most people, and is the thing you should do. For some reason, I have a skill issue with sledge hammers and struggle with doing them fast with pickup because the last F' move is a bit hard for me to execute fast.

Also, I got another sledge scramble that was exactly like this about a week ago (I'm not even kidding, it was the exact same solution) and I did sledge and botched it.

I had a comp yesterday.

I did pretty well! I got my first official 7x7 mean! Solve 3 also had a pop and I also messed up centers during edge paring. Because of that, I didn’t have enough time to get a 6x6 mean, so that means I have a 7x7 mean before a 6x6 mean. (There was a 35 minute cumulative for all events.)

I also got overall PB in OH!

And second in 2x2!

Sadly, in 3x3 I +2ed out of a 10.38 PR average. I would have had a counting 8 without the +2. :(

For some reason however, I realized that if I do but if I do 6x6 right before 3x3 I average about a second faster, and I have NO idea why.

Overall, this was a very fun comp!

You average faster in 3x3 after doing 6x6 because look ahead on 6x6 is harder than 3x3, and there are a ton more pieces on 6x6 than 3x3. So, when you switch back to 3x3, it suddenly seems a lot easier, look ahead is easier, there are a lot less pieces to track.

PB single again yay

I've gotten a lot of good singles lately
Bro I tried it and the finger tricks needed to get a time like that are godly. Nice job!
The solution I would have done (and you probably did): x’ U’ R’ U R’
