So, I have two updates:

First of all, I modded my Gan 251 M Pro and made it UV coated. I did this by taking the UV coated Gan 251 M Leap and swapping the corner caps with the Gan 251 M Pro.

Second of all, I got PB single about 5 minute into trying new modification. This is also my first time ever tying a WR at home!

Won't you then have the anchor piece of the 251m Pro still be frosted? I don't think you can remove that without breaking it.

It is possible to remove the caps without taking off the corner. I just put my nail under the cap and pull up, like this:

Ok, so I have a comp tomorrow. It has 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, and OH.

Here are my goals:

2x2: I want to get some consistent results, as my last two comps were not great. Sub-2 would be nice, but mostly I care about being consistent. There are also 3 rounds, which is very nice.

3x3: Sub-9 single and some decent averages

4x4: Sub-50 single, hopefully PR

OH: Decent average

Hope you do excellent! What do you like about the WRS better than the GAN? I might pick up this if the GAN is out of my price range
It has an airy feel like the Gan and it is very flexible.

I find that the Gan 2x2 lacked enough flexibility, at least for me. The WRS has a more hollow feel, which suits me more than the Gan 2x2, which does not have a hollow feel.

So I did an FMC attempt in preparation for my upcoming comp yesterday.

I ended up getting a 39, which was pretty good.

At the start of the attempt, I wrote down a CFOP solution on a paper and set it aside in case I ever run low on time.

I made sure to have a good solution about 10 minutes in so I make sure I have time to check it.

This strategy works well, so I will try to do a few more practice solves before the comp, and make sure I do the following:

Write a CFOP solution right away and check (5 min)

Spend time finding a good solution (45 min)

Write down solution and spend time checking solution (5 min)

If solution does not work, write down the CFOP solution and check it (5 min)

I think this will be a decent format for me to make sure that I don’t DNF.

I will do a few more practice attempts and will report on how it does.

Is your method also 1 look 7 simul or is it something else?
I invented my own method to do this.

will make a tutorial, but for now, here are my algorithms:

Udl = U and DL pins up
Udr = U and DR pins up
x = Move by the distance of the number you memorized
Example: If you memorized 4 and what is written is
x-: Move by the opposite distance of the number you memorized

Execution algorithms:

Edge algorithm (Solved front bottom edge ONLY): Ux- ALLx+ Udlx+ ALLx- Udrx+ ALLx-

Center x+ algorithm (Solves front center ONLY): DRx+ ULx+ ULdrx-

Corners is done the same as the flip method

Corner algorithm (Solved bottom right corner ONLY): Udlx- ALLx+

I memorize each piece by the distance they have to move to be solved, and I convert that number into a letter.

0= O (skip)
1 = A
2 = B
3 = C
4 = D
5 = E
6 = F
-5 = G
-4 = H
-3 = I
-2 = J
-1 = K

You can memorize and execute in any order. However you MUST:

Memorize edges on BOTH sides
Memorize centers on BOTH sides
Memorize corners on ONE side

For anybody who is currently using this: I made a mistake. I accidentally said you must memorize corners on both sides but you actually must memorize it on one side.

memorizing corners on both sides will lead to a DNF
Ah ok yeah I was wondering why you said to memorize the same info twice

While a method like this is of course possible, it is a lot of moves, which is quite unsafe for clock since you're relying solely on feel and sound while counting the moves, which is why I figured out how to calculate the whole solve using 7simul a few weeks ago. I don't remember the whole method anymore, but if anyone is interested lmk and I can dig it up again
