Did speedcubedb close?

Comparing speedcubedb to Google is absurd. They're not in similar situations at all lol, there are thousands of people employed at Google and it generates billions of dollars in revenue, whereas speedcubedb is a little website run by 1 person out of his own pocket.

I know you're 13 so you will grow out of this selfish mindset eventually. But it's not the end of the world if the site shuts down, it's just 1 passion project for a hobby and there are many others like it. Not worth being doxxed and having your life threatened over, then insulted by children on a forum when you decide it's too much stress to keep up

Seriously, why doesn't anyone understand? It's so simple. All I am saying is that website owners shouldn't act like dictators.
You say it is "simple," but do you understand the simple concept of property rights? Gil has no legal obligation to keep speedcubedb up. Nor does he have an ethical obligation: he considers it a necessary means to "recover" his mental state, while at worst it is an inconvenience to cubers--there are plenty of alternatives. If anyone's being of the likes of a dictator, it would be those demanding he keep the website up. That being said--I think it is partially Gil's fault that the community has devolved into this state: had he not been so evidently vulnerable and comically reactive (I remember a particularly amusing time when he made all recon videos link to his video, but the titles did not change) the community would not have found it worthwhile to keep poking at the situation. Still, it is terrible and fully unjustified that it has escalated to a real-life danger scale.
