My grandparents got me a fangshi discrete pyraminx last christmas. I couldn't find the" discrete" turn and gave up shortly. 8 months later, I realized that there was a 2x2 core inside, found the discrete turn, and as soon as I had done 2 turns, the thing looked like this:
