Cubing involves maths?

I was just wondering if solving a rubiks cube involves any maths. Everyone says that you have to be super smart at maths to solve it but all you have to do is memorize a few algorithms.
I personally didnt get any smarter at maths since i started cubing. :tu

no, it involves grammar and history. it's obvious you didn't get smarter

people think you're super smart if you can solve one though xD everyone thinks you're genius or something when they see you solve it in like less than a min. you only need math if you want to understand the cube or see how many permutations there are

To be good at cubing does not require maths.
However, the theory behind the algorithms is maths, the grouping theory for example.
You do not need to know a single thing about it, but that is what happens as you solve the cube.
You do it without knowing you are doing it.
You can investigate further about grouping theory, but you do not need to know it at all.
Learn the algorithms and you should be fine :)
