Ever since the WCA's decision to ban all tiles over 1mm (Currently on a grace period), there has been a lot of discussion about megaminx tiles. I recently bought cubesmith megaminx smooth tiles (smaller than 1mm) and since I couldn't find any reviews on them I thought I would share my opinion of them.

I applied the tiles to my modded shengshou megaminx and the overall look isn't too bad. The tiles are kind of small compared to the pieces, but I don't mind because I think it still looks good.
The overall quality of the tiles though isn't perfect. The color and feel of the tiles is good, but the edges are a bit rough and the shapes aren't always perfectly symmetrical. These deformities however are barely noticeable, but I expected better quality for such a large price (11$).
The feel of the tiles is very good in my opinion, and despite how thin they are they provide a good amount of grip. This has helped me a lot with finger tricking, and I was able to break my PB easily.
I should also mention that the color scheme is a bit different, replacing light yellow or cream or whatever it is with a light purple. I personally prefer the light purple because I think that purple, and light purple are easier to distinguish than light yellow, and yellow.
Overall I think these are a good set of tiles, especially if the WCA board decides to keep the smaller than 1mm rule. They are however not perfect and kind of expensive so I can see how many cubers may not want to buy them. I however am pleased with them, and will continue to use them until a better set under 1mm is manufactured.
