CubeIndex - the next Essential Cubing Platform

Would you use a Price Tracking feature on CubeIndex?

This probably wont work, but rather then a table thing for wr and that, one for whoever has the most cubes and everyone can compete to see who goes into debt the fastest.
I plan on making the explore user page sorted by the number of cubes

Hey, I have a big idea! You could embed a table with categories of cubes (under folders, so it doesn't get messy) that tracks the price of each cube from online stores! I think at least 2 prices for each cube would be sufficient, but if the cube is available on more sites, I'd say do 4 max. 🙂👍
Good idea

I know, but do they update?
No they are hard coded (written by hand)

There's not a lot of cubes available to add to collection, is each cube put in manually?

Guess what I'm working on...
Something where users...
Wait.... hopefully u arent doing this.

Maybe add like a feature where users can add their own cubes themself, and (i think the mods are for disc arent they ?) Like mods can go through the newly submitted ones to make sure they arent inappropriate or not an actual cube

Edit - I have alot of free time now, so if this is implemented i can apply to be a mod for this.

Yeah this system would probably make it way easier, and then a mod just has to approve the cube to make sure it's actually real and not a cube that already eists.

You could also probably implement a web scraper for speecubeshop or the cubicle and cube names, images, and descriptions from there

True, but some cubes you cant get on alot of cubing stores.
Also @CubeLite is this a revolutionary idea thats somehow better then light mode

I would have loved to but staff should necessarily use Discord, I manage everything over there and can't commit to use two different platforms for the same task and the coordination would also be harder to maintain. BUT if you miraculously happen to have a discord account here is the form link : https://tally.so/r/w7gbd9

I have absolutely no idea of how to make a web scraper but this idea should be dug on.

Ummm, to be honest I thought of this since like a looooooonnnnnnggggggg time ago

Someone once suggested to ask the shops like The Cubicle, etc... their database directly. But I don't think I could do this because there is a high chance of our database schema being completely different, and I would just pass a very very very very long time adjusting everything.

And plus they need to accept in the first place.

What do you guys think?

I could try and approve some when I have time, ofc after exams

Thx but you can't, you're Community Manager and this falls under the Database Manager jurisdiction. I can't attribute two roles to the same person so it is impossible for you to access the database in any way.

This is what you call CIA level security guys :cool:

I have returned with a stupid ahhh idea in attempt to claim that achievement.

This was inspired by @Saterz_ comment on how they want this to be like collecting pokemon.

You can battle other users because your cubes will have stats.

*the higher the rarer

E.g Gan 460 v1 vs Rubiks 4x4
Gan 460 :
Corner cutting = 1
Speed = 1
Smoothness = 1
Pops = 1*
Lock ups = 1*
Controllability = 1

Rubiks 4x4 :
Corner cutting = 10
Speed = 10
Smoothness = 10
Pops = 10*
Lock ups = 10*
Controllability = 10

Rubiks 4x4 wins on all variables !
(Note - this is not an accurate description of the cubes, this is an example that should be taken seriously since the Rubiks 4x4 is not good and @That0newe1rdo will not be held responsible for the emotional distress for the realisation Gan has a really bad cube that should be burned in a ditch and blown to smithereens)

erm. Ignore my grammatical error on line 2.
Tbh it might not be a grammatical error.
You never know when its the Gan 460 v1 vs the Rubiks brand 4x4
