Cube Noob Question: Move list for edge color sampling

Hi all,

I'm a cubing newb, so forgive the naive questions, but I'm looking for an efficient way to cycle all the corner / edge colors through each of the front/right and back/left edges.

I have a camera pointed at the F/R edge, and another camera pointed at the B/L edge. I want to twist the cube through a sequence of moves, such that each facelet passes through each of the edge faces visible to both cameras, then take a picture.

I know I can do this (suboptimally) with a solved cube:

F/R camera: /F2 /F /F R /R' U R' /R U' R U F /F' U' R' U' F /F' U' F /F' U2
B/L camera: /B2 /B /B L /L' U L' /L U' L U B /B' U' L' U' B /B' U' B /B' U2

Things to note:
  • Forward slashes (/) represent spots where I stop to take a picture.
  • Weird repetitions above are to allow the camera to take a picture.
  • The D face never moves (it could move, I just didn't think to use it effectively)
I basically muddled my way through it to come up with the above, but is there a better way, with fewer moves?

Not sure if I'm explaining myself clearly, so if any questions, just ask.

EDIT: To clarify, only the edges are captured (so in the FR camera, that would be all the facelets along the front-right edge, and all the facelets along the right-front edge). And all those captured facelets need to pass through both cameras.

EDIT 2: By edges I mean to include (for the FR camera) both (FR) facelets of the FR edge, two (FR) facelets of the FRU corner, and two (FR) facelets of the FRD corner. Sorry for any confusion. for the BL camera, obviously, the facelets are along the BL edge instead of FR.

Thanks!

Does the F/R camera capture the full F and R faces, or just the edge? Also, do you need each facelet to go through both cameras, or just at least one of the two cameras?

Assuming the full faces are captured and you just need visibility to at least one camera, you could do / F B' L R' /.

Good question! To clarify, Only the edges are captured (so in the FR camera, that would be all the facelets along the front-right edge, and all the facelets along the right-front edge).

And all those captured facelets need to pass through both cameras.

So it's sort of a worst-case scenario. I've updated the original question to reflect this additional clarification.
