Comparison Solves

In this thread we can use the same set of scrambles to compare solves. This will allow for an easy collaboration, and there can be discussion on which scrambles allowed for easy/ hard crosses, x-crosses, how to save a pair, hot to not waste a cube rotation, etc.

I really like the idea :)

I have to go offline soon, so I'm not going to do the solves now but here's an opinion.
I'd rather make very few solves, so people can actually analyse their solves very detailed, reconstruct them, discuss solutions and efficiency, what is the best choice in a specific situation and so on.
Imo this thread can become great, but we have to avoid that it only consists of posts like "My Ao12 was this, and on Solve 2 and 5 were easy crosses but 11 and 12 were hard"

Posts like "But you can save your pair during cross with this setup", "I'd rather do this as an easy way to keep LL edges right" or "you can avoid this rotation like this" are much more worth and it helps people more to get faster.

Just an opinion :)

This is a very good idea. I'm going to delete the last 9 and keep just four. Thanks for the help! After we get some discussion going on tricks to shorten the solves then we'll have an awesome thread going !

Here's a cool Xcross, which I would never have figured out on a normal solve:

So, most people may assume there is a xcross possible while doing inspection, but would never find out in the actual inspection time (like me). What I want to do is describing this kind of xcross as general as possible to make it actually usable for the average speedsolver.
We could do this by answering this question:
What makes the cross pieces and the pair good for this kind of xcross?

So if we see something like that (like recognising a pattern), we can figure the xcross out instantly, because we know stuff about it in general, and actually use it without risking to mess everything up or to waste the whole inspection time.
Maybe someone has a better solution and can explain it, it is a comparison thread :p

Let us increase our xcross skills :D

I definitely can't find an x-cross within the inspection time, but when trying for an optimal solve I often realize that the best way to get an x-cross is to place an edge in its correct position by putting it in UF the front sticker opposite the respective center color and doing R Ui Ri or if placing it into the left then Li U L and then placing the corner while the D face is not correctly aligned, so that when you align the D face it pairs the pair. Probably a good way to recognize this opportunity is to immediately look for edges that are either in optimal position to be placed or for edges that are already placed, so that you can plan your cross around this x-cross opportunity.
