Community Feedback: how can the site improve?

That's not going to happen. You can't trust every forum member to not go full-on dictator mode on their threads and remove any reply they don't like lol. There's no reason for a regular user to *ever* remove someone's reply, it would be so incredibly rude... the exception of harassment/other-rule-breaking replies is already covered by the report button.

I meant moreso in the context of quickly ending harrassment or spamming if needed, but I can also see it from the perspective of increased power abuse and unprompted exclusionism. Perhaps the ability to delete a thread or pause all responses from ALL individuals at the discretion of a thread's creator would be more realistic, as it would allow things to be paused for resolution by a moderator when they're able. It additionally prevents ALL parties (at the discretion of the user who created a thread of their own) from interacting and fueling a conflict.

My programming experience does not include website design (so this logic could be completely baseless), but I feel like there must be a way to control threads you create (delete thread, pause responses, etc.); essentially moderator privileges limited to a thread originating from your account, similar to how a user can currently modify thread components (e.g., titles). I'm not trying to argue with your point in any capacity, because again, it could be entirely unrealistic. Just thinking out loud.
I was being facetious. I know XenForo has a thread-ban capability, at least by moderators. Not sure if it's ever been used here though.

Maybe the reaction score could be removed. Several very annoying posters have cited it as their reason for spamming zero-effort replies everywhere. There's really no reason to track it, it always struck me as an unnecessary feature that is better suited for a modern social media platform, not a forum.

I think it would be good to have a cool down on posts on the same thread to discourage people from double posting (maybe 10 mins) until they reach a certain number of posts in total. Similarly with creating new threads.

Also, just make it so people can't send emoji only messages. They never add anything and will encourage people to use reactions instead.

@pjk when was the last time a staff member actually made changes from this thread? it seems like these suggestions are being shouted into a void
We've been actively implementing changes that are suggested, though sometimes the idea is just 1 opinion and not what the entire community would want. Please keep any suggestions coming. Thanks.

I'm glad staff members have been locking unproductive threads. Otherwise it becomes the OP saying something silly, people responding in the comments, OP getting mad, ad nauseam.

I think it would be a really good idea to be able to ban certain people from thread and ban certain people from seeing your profile. As it would definitely help the aggression seen on the forum lately.
I could see blocking people, like someone's posts not showing up for you specifically, but banning would go too far. Plus, Averageof12 was right

I don't like the idea of blocking someone, personally. It means they can write whatever on your profile page and elsewhere and you'll never see it. Sounds like more problems than benefits. Like someone throwing invisible rubbish into your garden, which everyone else can see. 😲

Then don’t block people

isn't the point of blocking someone meaning that they can't see your profile or message on your posts lol
