Clock and Other Things (Clock is Back)

What are you double majoring in? I'm just curious because I have so many things I want to major in and I can't decide, so I was wondering your perspective on the classes related to them
My advice is that more than likely, you will change your mind even once you get to college. Many, many people I know changed their majors completely, or the specific field they're working towards. I came into college as a pre-medical student; however, I realized that it really wasn't what I wanted to do at all. I'm now a biology and anthropology double major, and I'm currently applying for PhD programs. The courses you take freshman year allow you to explore and get an idea of what you truly enjoy pursuing. It also depends greatly on who you meet along the way. Certain professors may provide you specific opportunities and guidance which shape your interests and allow you to develop connections. You 100% do not need to know exactly what you want to do going in. Whatever you choose freshman year is not set in stone, so my advice is to maintain an open mind and trust your gut on what feels right for you.

Sounds epic. I used to do a method called animedoro where i do 60 minutes of studying and 20 minutes of watching anime (1 episode). I might try 60 minutes of studying and 15 minutes of cubing or something. Thanks a lot for your advice, I'm gonna try to apply these tips once my freshman year starts!
Edit - Do you have any other advice for balancing cubing and college, I feel like cubing might be a distraction :(
If you need to get many things done in a short period of time, I recommend either putting away/hiding your cubes, or going to a study space (away from your room) without them.

Thanks for the advice! At first I was so sure that I wanted to major in mechanical engineering, but when I thought about it I wasn't sure why I wanted to in the first place. Then I was thinking biology, medical sciences, and now I'm thinking computer science and cybersecurity, or maybe criminology.... and it's just this spiral. I think I'm going to take classes in each area and see what I really enjoy.

Lol I thought from junior high through high school I was gonna study mechanical engineering but ended up hating doing labs. I took a bunch of diff stem field classes in freshmen year and ended up majoring in math. I’d recommend just going in with an open mind and explore the entry level courses for any of the fields you might be interested in.

good job on the 5×5! (my PB is *still* 2:13 *sigh*)

may I recommend a new handle?

I also studied Anthro in college, was one of my majors and favorite field of studies (at first my school only did a minor and had it on the Sociology dept but they upgraded by the time I was nearing graduation ¡yay!)

I do enjoy other things. Your input will be strongly considered.

Great to see another anthro major! Objectively one of the coolest majors. Which sub-discipline were you most focused on? I do biological anthro (molecular anthropology/paleogenetics research right now), but I have experience with bioarchaeology and some non-bio archaeology!

I studied mainly in Cultural Anthro but also have had interest in ancient cultures and traditions so Archaeology as well, tho not in terms of fieldwork... sadly. I looked into it bcoz a friend of a friend had been a field archaeologist for like 20 years but it turned out he was a prolific drunk and his career kinda ended not long after we met...

I've begun learning L4E for pyraminx, which is the first more advanced method I've attempted in a very long time for any event. Currently, I average low-4 (not uncommonly sub-4) at home with a 4.63 official average. My goal for now would be consistently sub-4. I'm working on it intuitively, since I heard that it's more effective than memorizing algorithms. I average about 6-7 with it right now, but more times are very inconsistent. I have a range of 2-19 seconds right now.

More consistent than me at least, i global 6 and get a ton of official 3s 4s and 8s

After many months, I've FINALLY beaten my pyraminx Ao5 PB!! Previous was 3.53! And no, this was not with L4E.

Any recommendations for 3x3s to try out? I’ve been seeing a lot about the V9. I have a WRM 2021 Maglev Angstrom, but I’m not a huge fan. Might need to adjust magnet settings and tensions on that though—I like the feeling but it’s a bit uncontrollable right now.

I refuse to buy a GAN 3x3.

Do you have the Tornado?

Currently considering buying a very big cube. I have the old YuXin 9x9 and 11x11, but they're terrible compared to the new stuff, and the caps constantly fall off. I'm not sure if I go for one of the newer 11x11s (MoYu or YuXin), or the MoYU 13x13. Possibly even the 15x15. Thoughts? Also, I would prefer to not have an even-layered giant cube haha.
