Cleaning cubes

No.

To clean a cube; disassemble it into the different pieces, and wipe the insides (as in, the parts that are on the inside of the cube, not the inside of the pieces) with some sort of microfiber cloth or even paper towels. I also recommend using a small toothbrush to brush off all the little crevices. Then put it all back together and you should be good.

Disassembling and reassembling cubes seems scary at first, but it’s easier than it seems, especially 3x3s.

I've done this before, it's just that there is hair on the core.

I have an issue with a grey-ish substance in my cube, what may be the cause and should I clean it?
