I think that because of the new heat to head finals, people are going to get way more opportunities to break records. Once these head to head rounds appear more often, I don't think it will be too long before Xuanyi or somebody gets a scramble where they can one-look it because of a super easy start and then some type of skip.

I think a sub-2 in general is very possible, but I think it’s gonna take longer than 2030.

current WB is 2.39 (i think) , and imo there would probably have to have a mid 1s UNOFFICIAL solve minimum (like 1.5s) before id even conisder sub 2.5 in comp to be a thing happening before 2030.
i think that best case scenario we get a mid - low 3s average and a mid to high 2s single.

Definitely. The progress that Chinese cubers are making is insane. I think that we’ll get a Xuanyi 2-look (or maybe Yiheng, Zhaokun, or even Yi Shen at his rate) with like a pll skip or Niklas (easy ZB). Also you guys are forgetting about R U Shull’s YTWB.

Edit: I accidentally thought this was for sub3, not sub2. I think we’ll need more time for an official sub2.

Can we get it by 2030? Yes.
The improvement rate of chinese cubers is crazy fast, but to get a sub-2 single OFFICIALLY by 2030 is very hard, even for kids like Xuanyi or Yiheng. To get a 1 second solve, you’re gonna need either a 1-second F2L with a last layer skip, or a sub-1 F2L with some sort of easy ZBLL case with superb recognition

now why do i still say it’s possible by 2030?
Because of H2H finals. Cubers will be able to get twice or maybe even thrice as many solves in a competiton than they normally would, which will increase the chances of a super lucky scramble.

Although the only problem with H2H is that the chances of getting a WR average might decrease because some competitions might have H2H instead of the normal ao5.
