To me, it sounds like he plans on giving it to whom ever wins the auction at the comps listed, so it being legit doesn't seem like an issue.

The AoLong and HuaLong are totally different cubes. I still love solving on my V1, but I'm not a big fan of my HuaLong anymore (they were both mains for a while though). The V2 isn't all that great either (but I have an old batch, so there's that). The V1 wouldn't be my main, but it's one of my favorite cubes to solve on. And the corner twists were never a problem for me personally, so I didn't really think a V2 was warranted.

couldn't you just get the Mini's? I hear the V1 was wobbly, is that true? I have a V2 and its pretty good.
