Hey everyone! The name's Tom, and I'm a fairly new cuber from Australia.

I've owned rubik's cubes around the house since I was young, but I've only learnt how to solve one around 2 years ago using the beginner's method. This was mostly as a casual thing as a random skill I could pick up, but only recently (a few months ago) I really became interested in speedsolving. I quickly picked up intuitive F2L and 4LLL (2-look OLL and PLL) in the beginning, as CFOP/Fridrich's Method was the easiest speedsolving method to transition into from the beginner's method. I purchased a Dayan Zhanchi and from there began working on cutting down my times. Using CFOP, I managed to hit a sub-40 average but I wasn't very consistent. Very recently, I decided to make the switch to ZZ and I have fallen in love with this method. Though it has slowed down my times at the moment, I hope that once I begin to perfect my EOLines, my times will drop drastically.

I also own a 2x2 and use the Ortega method, but I don't solve it much at the moment, which I aim to explore more of. I have a pyraminx where I use an intuitive variation of the keyhole method combined with the last layer cases, where I can generally get sub-20 averages with a personal best of 5.03 (lucky). Though I don't personally own a 4x4, I know the fundamentals of how to solve one using the reduction method, though I still need to commit the parity algorithms to memory. Additionally, I am in the process of purchasing a 5x5.

Other than cubing, I am an avid musician, and have been playing for about 8 years. I can play the piano/keyboards, guitar and bass and I am largely self-taught. I enjoy classic rock, hard rock and grunge, and some of my favourite bands include Pink Floyd, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Pearl Jam, the Who and Nirvana to name a few.

So that's the basics of who I am. I joined this forum with the interest of learning from its members and developing my speedsolving techniques, as well as having the ability to interact with others who share this interest of mine. If anyone has any other questions they would like to know about me feel free to ask and I'll try my best to answer. :)

Hey, and welcome to the speedsolving.com forums. I also speedcube (quite obviously), I'm also from Australia, and I'm also into music. Check out my signature to go to my Soundcloud profile page. I don't think you'll really enjoy my music but you can give it a shot.

Hey, thanks for the warm welcome! Good to see another musician on here too. I've checked out some of your tracks on Soundcloud, quite impressed with the quality and really enjoyed the compositions overall. Though I did specify a few genres that are my go-to for easy listening, I am quite diverse and open to different things. Quite a unique and refreshing blend of piano, bass, drums and sound effects!
