solving my cube
Yesterday, as it was just about the one month anniversary of my starting to speedcube with the Petrus method, I did an average of 12 solves:

#10 is a new PB, but it was slightly lucky (an incredibly easy 2x2x2). So now I think it's safe to say I'm averaging sub-50. How does this compare with you guys after a month?

Nice, I was around 1 minute or so after a month of speedcubing.
Recently, though, over the past 2 months, I've improved a lot...
March 6 - 16.26
March 14- 15.47
April 10- 15.22
April 14- 14.66
April 27- 13.66
May 5- 13.46
May 11- 12.60

after about two months i was averaging around 50s i think
a few months after that i could sub 30 80% of the time with just the basic petrus algs (even had 12.09s once! lucky mind you) but now i'm learning more so i can sub 20 :)

I only know the basic Petrus algs (and I don't know the diagonal switch for LL corner alg yet :(). A lot of my time is spent just looking for pieces, but I have been working on that by doing my F2L with a metronome, and it seems to be helping.

sounds boring, but the best thing is just to keep on at it. you learn to find pieces quickly without even realising it. when you inspect the cube, i'm not sure what you look for, but i always make sure i'm aware of where all the pieces of my 2x2 are and if possible some of my 2x2x3. you can also try looking for pieces for your 2x2x3 while you place pieces in your 2x2 so that you make a fluid transition to your next move rather than having to stop and look for 2 seconds :) i would also recommend learning the 7 petrus oll... several vids on youtube.

I've been using LBL for 1/3 of a year and started using Fridrich method 3 weeks ago. Now my average is nearly sub-30, so I think I'm going pretty fine.

You are amazing. I was at 60s average for 3 month before I learned petrus then converted to fridrich. Then, it took 2 weeks to get back to 60s with new method. Another 2 weeks to reach your times. Another month to average about 30 on ryanheise simulator. That was December 2007. I didn't start to use a real cube again until this February.
You can probably average sub-30 in less than a month.
