[Help Thread] Am I Competition Ready?

I averaged 50 seconds at my first comp. Go have fun! It is a lot of fun!

I averaged 30 at my first competition, and I clearly remember someone asking me how fast I was, and when I said 30 seconds, he literally laughed and said "I can't even imagine going above 15 seconds!! Haha!" and then walked away smugly.

That isn't to say that will happen to you, though.

My first comp i averaged about 1:30. Deffo go, man. It's a ton of fun. You meet new people, maybe see some new puzzles (the first time i'd seen a 7x7 was in comp. i didn't even know about them. same with 11x11), and probably learn some new things c:

Wow, what's wrong with that guy

I recently went to my first competition and it was very very fun. Although some guy was incredibly rude to me because I opened boxes differently than expected.

I realized that 9x9's are awesome to solve.

The first thing I saw when I walked in was Neil Morales get NAR for OH. Shook his hand and feared he would twist my fingers into a pretzel. His dad was cool to talk to.

And to top it off, I made a bunch of friends. So yeah. Go. 45 seconds actually isn't that bad, but like people said, competitors are more concerned about beating their own times, not beating the times of others.

Is it ok if i go to competetion with 45avg?

Yes!

Some people are mean at competitions. Generally those people annoy lots of other people too and people will end up trying to avoid this person. My experience at competitions is that mean/rude people are the exception and not the rule.

no, its definitely not ok you are a shame for every cuber on the competition with your times, everyone will hate on you and you will probably cry for days after it and stop cubing and never get a new hobby again cause of that horrible experience. *irony off* as all the other people said, no one cares go there and have fun cubers seem to be very nice and i have only heard good about people at comps even with 1min+ averages go and have fun oh and compete! who cares about the times its all about getting dat feeling :P

Hey, whats your name? I was filming for Neil when he got his NAR, and was with him almost the whole comp. I probably saw you and i didn't realize it XD

My name is James Arellano. I was wearing a brown hoodie and got a sad 19.01 average. Had a 15.63 single as well as a 16.77. So I guess that's okay. The other three solves were filled with me shaking like a massage chair. Nerves, man. I also had a case cube and was obsessed with megaminx. I practice that shizzle like every day.

Competitions are really just to have fun. In my opinion, Competitions = 10% Competing 90% Socializing. It's really not about the actually competition, it's about meeting other cubers and checking out new puzzles. Sure, It may help to get faster but it doesn't matter if you average 2 minutes or 10 seconds.

Also, Don't worry about your times at your first competition. They will probably be bad.
