Do you have a fixed order of solving edges on 7x7x7?
I find at my current level (avg 7 minutes) I'm better when doing all white edges, then all yellow and them remaining 4.

It helps me with finding pieces (the 4th edge can be recognized from one side only if I see white), counting the edges (when I finish last yellow edge I know its time for last 4 edges. And before that I would often find myself building 9th edge with free-slice just to have nowhere to insert it. ).
Sometimes i miss partially build edges because of that.

I wonder if in the long run I should focus on solving the best edge I see or the advantages I listed are gonna always be valid for the fixed edge order.

(redux, M edge pairing, avg 3:20-3:30)

I don't exactly endorse this method, but what I do is that I'll filter to whatever colour seems easiest and do those as my first 4, then repeat for the next 3 or 4 edges (depending on whether the next colour is adj or opp). If I spot something easy along the way then I'll go solve that first.

I filter for the first colour (often yellow or white) most of the time, but I think I do the second colour filter maybe half of the time or even less.

One understated advantage of colour filtering is that you can track EO by looking at only one colour, so it's easy to flip pieces for multiple edges at once when necessary. (I learnt this trick from some very old thread here but I haven't been able to find it again and I don't remember who to credit it to.)
