The best way to time PLLs is to start with the cube not in your hands and use a stackmat :D

I currently have J perm at 1.01 and A perm 1.02 I think...

My A-perm is ~0.55 so conjugating with 2 moves that flow well with it means it's fast for me :)

As an aside, I would really like to see a turn metric based more on hand action than raw turns, I feel more and more like traditional notation doesn't encode enough... If I had more time on my hands I'd get it done myself.

What is the difference between timing the .55 Aperm and the 1.02 Aperm? Sorry if this is a nubb question. I just don't know better.

No one has sub1'd one yet. I have 1.03 A.

Nobody?

I have done 1.01 many times with A and J... I might have to try this a bunch tomorrow before somebody ultra fast sees this and beats me.

And yes to those who were asking, competition style start. It's really, really hard. Took me a while to get anything below 1.2 and I worked out how best to start with certain PLLs, and I'm still very inconsistent. For reference, my A is about .48 and J about .58 at best, although (as Erik rightly says) it's extremely easy to time incorrectly with cube in hands.
