sorry if this is long, you dont have to help if you dont feel like helping then do what you want to do, this method is based on 3x3 begginer's cfop, warning i dont know 4x4 notation so if its not the official notation then read the notation i used form here : https://kewbz.co.uk/pages/learn-how-to-solve-a-4x4-notations-guide-kewbzuk.

i'll explain how to get to the step i need help with : solve centers, then do white cross by making the case in the first comment i send, and using this alg : r U' L U r' L' you should then have a pair of 2 edges that you can insert as a piece of the cross, you can also do F' to put the pair in before the L' then do the L' after the F'.

after that you do the f2l, you can do it however you want, advanced f2l with cases from j perm's video, but some cases have a gap between the corner and the edge (altho i think you don't need to do advanced f2l) for the third layer then find the case in the second comment i send then do this alg : U (R U R' U') Y Lw U' L U l'. (based on this videos step for 2nd layer on 3x3
)

NOW we're finally at the bit i need help with, we're trying to get a yellow cross on the top layer, but first we need to pair up the blue red green and orange edges, when i originally solved it this way i got lucky and i did F sexy move F' to match up a pair then put that pair in the back face and did it again (you can also do the inverse which is F' sexy move on the left side F if you see the inverse case of the normal case which will be in the 3rd comment i send) but i'm not certain what the case was, there is also case's where their are 2 edges solved, i have no idea what to do here, i only have 1 picture of this but there are lots of variations so use the variable's i say here: if the yellow is on the top face or on the sides, if the paired edges are next to each other or not, and the way the NON paired edges are positioned, i'll show the photo in the 4th comment i send.

now if there is 1 single pair cuz you did le alg thing i have 1 case i can solve which you do Fw b sexy move Fw' b' U2 Fw sexy move Fw' (i'll send the case in my 5th comment,) by using the variables from earlier we can find all the cases, i'm about to called sexy move sw from now on, i think we can use all 3 of these algs (only 1 alg) F sw F' u2/Fw sw Fw' u2/Fw b' sw Fw' b U2 then use the same algs just without the u2 (once again only 1 alg) to branch out and find the solution, for the tree of moves i'll give a example here, for the case we can start out with 1 of the 3 algs so we have 3 options, then you the 1 of the 3 algs that DONT have the U2s and if it doesn't work the un do it and try a dif alg until we find the solution, if there is not a solution out of those 9 options (3x3) then we might need a new alg.

the rest is done as if your doing 3x3 with the paired edges just being edges and the corners being corners and the center just being a center.

so thats the end of this post, i need all of you to help by filtering through some of these cases and finding the algs, if you have the free time, especialy the ones with 2 paired edges, (i'm also not open to critisim on the way im doing the cross edge pair thing if you do i will not respond because thats not what im looking for) thanks for helping, message when you've got some stuff, or if your gonna help, sorry if my spelling was bad it was a long post for me to send and it took alot of brain power so i dont wanna put extra time into writing the post by checking.

my finger is on the orange and white edges im trying to pair

There might be an application or something that generates algorithms for this kind of stuff. Although it may not exist for 4x4

If I understand correctly, you're looking for algs to pair all of the last layer edges. In K4 this is done with commutators. I can understand some of the simpler ones like (r R U R' U' r' U R U' R') and it's mirrors, but I'm sure there's a sheet with a lot more cases you can look at somewhere. You might want to look up K4 ELL.
I use these algs for last two edges: Rw' U2 Rw' D' Rw U2 Rw' D R2 and the inverse Rw2' D' Rw U2 Rw' D Rw U2 Rw
Hope this helps

thank you so much!

how should i hold the cube for the algorithm?
