I want to know if centers solving is mostly intuitive on the 4x4 or if there are guides that I can use to help me get faster at solving them. It takes me usually upwards of 40 moves to solve all the centers but I know that most speedcubers get most of there solves in the 20s. Any help would be appreciated.

yes it is intuitive there are places you can go to learn tricks or methods for the centers though. i recomend www.bigcubes.com and Stefan Pochmann's site (http://www.stefan-pochmann.de/spocc/speedsolving/4x4_centers/) and.... well you can pick up tid bits that help you just about everywere, when i began 4x4 i googled it and found tons of websites that helped with my 4x4 solving. im especialy gratefull to C. Hardwick Stefan Pochmann & Frank Morris (along with all those who contributed to the big cubes website) for ther valuable information and contribution of information to the speed cubing world and to be specific my 4x4 solving ability (even tho im not that grate i still understnd loads more then i would without them).

if you practice at it being able to do the 4x4 centers in 20s should be no problem. i was taught to just make one center, make the opposite, then a third, then an adjacent one to the third, then the remaining two. i believe that's what those sites will have you do as well. practice, you'll see how pieces react much better by doing that then my reading anything else. (not that you shouldn't read it, of course)

one will, but if you look at the Pochmann page youll see a different and imo more fun method.
