[Unofficial] 3x3x3 BLD success -- 5:34.68!!!

Hey there you go.

Do you not get many successful solves? You seemed surprised. Time to move on to M2 pretty soon, no reason to stay very long with classic pochmann edges.

Edit- I forgot to say good job... that's a pretty good time, keep it up.

That was my 4th ever, and second success...
I was practicing memo for the weekend since I was too lazy to do any of my work (lololol), but never did a blind "execution" (just a lot of setup move practice, T-perms, Ja and Jb-perms...) until this one...

Notice I had a scramble sheet, I used the first four in that section for "sighted" blind solves, and figured the last one I should do blindfolded/timed... xD

The sighted solves are all like 6 minutes, which is why I was intrigued at having two edges and one corner done already. :P

Nice why dont you learn 3 OP

I don't like the way I have to memorize that, despite it probably being a lot easier... I like the setup moves and how I only have to use J, Y, T and R perms for classic pochmann. :D

Hehe, I don't practice BLD (actual BLD solves...) enough, because I'm always either doing OH (at school), speedsolve (again, school or at home in front of the computer), and I lost my blindfold just after that solve, so I can't take an average just yet.

My other BLD success was a 14:xx:yy (computer timer, didn't have my stackmat yet) because I dropped the cube and had to assume I screwed up somewhere... Luckily I knew where I dropped it and how it bounced so I was able to reorient myself, it was just scary.

Because you're too good to close your eyes :p

Good job though, that's crazy for a second success. When was your first one?

That's an amazing time for your second success.

You inspired me to try some BLD attempts today, and they were all WAY over 5 minutes and DNFs. :(

Congratulations on your success and astounding times.

Oh, and about the blindfold, all you need to do is cover your eyes or make sure you don't see the cube. ;) I used a $5 ear warmer I bought from New York City during the winter holidays. It not only covers my eyes, but warms up my ears and filters out noise distractions.

I've been trying to get a sleep mask with no luck. I've been just closing my eyes most of the time, but people interrupt me because they don't noticed I am doing BLD.

You just opened my eyes to ear warmers. Now I just realized a sports head band should be easy for me to locate and buy, and simpler to use than a bandana.

Thanks so much mate, and I'm sure you'll get it soon... I practiced for way too long, and literally put off ALL of my work for this one solve, because I refused to do anything else... Determination, like what you're doing, is the key... :D

And nice solve, Michael. I should start on BLD soon. >_>

JAI I BETTER SEE YOU AT CANADIAN OPEN DOMINATING BLD. :D XD
On the other hand, I probably won't be "dominating"...

I already forgot how visual works, since I read up on it on the Saturday and filmed the solve on the Sunday... >< Calculus DOES make you stupid.

Calculus also makes you forget simple arithmetic. My calc class could integrate the crap out of anything but ask someone to do 15-9 as quick as they can and their brains go blank.

DUDE I KNOW RIGHT...
on the recent calc test i had...
(e^x)^2
and I thought the answer was e^(x^2)...
Man, Calculus is amazingly retarded.

lol, good luck to both of you. I need to practice BLD too >_> (MC Open this weekend!)

Bah I'm not competing until whenever CO2009 is.
Hopefully by then I understand how M2 works and learn a better memo for corners, my current memo doesn't work for cycling corners since I forget the buffer piece half the time xD
