3x3 Notation Question...

I am working on a computer program that works with the 3x3 Rubik's cube notation.

I am wondering if anyone knows what this would mean, or if it is even proper:
R2 3
(R2 [space] 3)

I don't think any used notation considers that proper.

As far as I know, 2R isn't 3x3 notation, but for bigger cubes such as 6x6 and 7x7

In Dan Browns revised 3x3 tutorial he used 2R instead on R2. I don't consider it as proper though
