Looking ahead and turning at a consistent pace is very important in F2L. In this video, I demonstrate that by looking ahead and turning at a steady pace, you don't need to turn extremely fast during F2L to achieve sub 20 averages.

Average: 18.55
Standard Deviation: 1.14
Individual Times: (16.12), 20.00, 19.10, 17.40, 20.31, 16.77, 17.40, (21.44), 19.68, 18.64, 18.23, 17.96

Cube: ShengEn Type F II

I saw this. Nice job :D
And I think its good that you turned faster during LL, because there isn't really a point to turn slowly in OLL/PLL, unless you wanna anticipate your PLL/reduce locks and pops.

I always find that when I sacrifice a bit of turn speed that my F2L time drops significantly too, but I always get messed up when I get on a roll (like when you have great look ahead and a great tps, and it's like a 14s solve or something). After that roll, I start going back down hill until a couple solves later.

I've been stuck at just barely sup-30 for a while now and this is definitely what I needed. I checked out your tutorial, much appreciated :tu

I did a few slow turning solves and then a few at speed and I had multiple sub-28 solves which is a solid performance for me.

Freshcuber: Good work, now you need to get those F2L cases etched into muscle memory. Go find a website with all 42 cases on it (I personally recommend http://www.kungfoomanchu.com due to it's layout of the cases), set up the cases, and see if you can solve them all blind. If you can do this, find a pair and solve it blind (doing no cube rotations or anything while you still have your eyes open). Open your eyes, find your next pair, repeat. I was able to 22.xy average of 5 like this, so if you do things right you should be able to get a sub25 average with it in less than a week of practice. Now do that but instead of closing your eyes, keep them open and watch the rest of the cube to find your next pairs :):) I'm sure the sub15 cubers could still sub20 via that method, but I'm not them and have an 8s LL time :P
