I have a few questions for the expert blders here, because I have started practicing bld more. How long should I expect until I get a succes? I also need help with getting my tracing faster, and just overall drills and advice for someone new to 3bld (I learned op from Charlie Eggins’ video series).

It took me like 18 attempts (2 of them off by a literal M move lol) to finally get a success, and now BLDsolving in general comes easy to me, it just takes a good bit of practice getting setup moves into muscle memory and having a good mental map of where each piece is on the cube. I’d recommend doing sighted exec solves to help you master setup moves and just doing attempts to help with memo.

After 28 DNF, i succeeded it.
At first, you should see cube and solve cube with blind method
You need to make mastle memory of setup moves.

It just takes a TON of trying and failing of course but I guess that's what makes bld an event that so many refuse to do.

Once you get the hang of it like I did a couple of weeks ago, it's pretty fun (improving is suuuuuper easy once you've learnt M2 and that's what I'd recommend once you're around 6:00 with a 1/3 or so success rate because that's what I did)

Just memo practice can help you with increasing tracing speed and familiarity. Getting braindead with the memo process is important to get faster and fluent solves.

Doing sighted exec can help boost your thinkahead which can indirectly boost your tracing speed as well. It works both ways.

I learnt 3bld by learning 2bld through J perms tutorial(he explains the concepts of tracing and stuff better there) and then I learnt 3bld from his tutorial. I did some attempts with written memo, then got a success first try(almost 15 mins though).

From there I did a bunch of practice just doing 3BLD solves. I think thats the best way to practice in the beginning especially for blindsolving, things like tracing get way more comfortable with practice. When I started averaging like 2 mins I learnt M2 edges, but you could switch earlier or even start with that(its not much harder than OP but a lot faster).

I got to my current level(averaging around 40 for 3BLD) by just spamming solves. I still use M2/OP but my memo kinda carries me(it averages like 9 secs). Grinding big BLD and multi also helped with my 3BLD, and progress with those events are also really fast with just practice because blindsolving takes a lot of getting used to. Good luck!
