So I'm kinda interested in 3-Style, probably not going to use it in BLD but more as just a side thing. I watched several videos on coms and they confused me a lot. Looked at Cuberoot's edge alg pdf, and I think it clicked.

For AB (R2 U':[S,R2]), C switches with A. A switches B. B then moves to the buffer, C. The next Pair would be where you want B to go, right?

I also wanted to double-check my understanding of the algorithms. For AB, the algorithm is R2 U':[S,R2]; I'm going to simplify this to 1 : [ 2, 3 ].
Using the numbers, the full alg is 1 2 3 2' 3' 1' ?

I'm also trying to make as many letter pairs be Pokemon stuff (I'm super competitive), does anyone have a resource for this?

just my first Ideas for letter pairs
  • IO: IonO
  • OX: OniX
  • RG: RegiGigas
  • RI: RegiCe
  • RQ: RayQuaza
  • RS: RegiSteel
  • TF: Tapu Fini
  • TK: Tapu Koko
  • TL: Tapu Lele
  • VX: VulpiX

Both of these are correct

I don't recommend that, it'll only be confusing (I'm one to talk, I just recently decided that I need to change 106 (!) letter pairs because the current words are not memorable enough/synonyms of other words/hard to make stories with)

oh, that makes sense, but If I could do 2 each-1 would be a pkmn name the other a move name-might work.

I'm far less of a BLD expert than @Jorian Meeuse , but this sounds like a ton of extra work. Sometimes elaborately planning things takes more time and energy than what you figure out from grinding solves (I've learned this primarily through trial and error in science). That's the best way to figure out what you get mixed up and what words strongly work for you. I tried to really force memo with elements of the periodic table, US state abbreviations, and country web domains; but the rigidity sometimes made things worse, especially when that constitutes only so many pair combos and has overlapping abbreviations. Of course everyone is different, but I would prioritize getting comfortable with the basics before attempting more complex methods (e.g., confidently knowing 3-style before creating elaborate memo systems).

How would you make a memo story using only Pokemon?

Ok, kinda confused, I'll do a scramble using the method but not BLD

F' L R2 F2 L2 U B2 D' U2 L2 D U F2 L' F U2 L2 B2 R D2

y2 cause blue's my favourite colour.

First one is QR: [U L U', M] or U L U' M U L' U' M' (took me three trys to get that A B A' B' thing right)

DJ (D is the buffer piece so I can switch it with anything right??): [U, L' E2 L] or U L' E2 L U' L' E2 L

I'm confused because C needs to go to L and L goes to B but L can't go B. So ig UB/BU flip? M' U2 M U R' F' R S R' F R S' U

FM: L' M U: [M', U2] or L' M U M' U2 M U2 U' M' L

I did UB/BU flip M' U2 M U R' F' R S R' F R S' U

VW ig U R2 U': [M, U2]

PU ig R2 F': [E, R2]

NU ig (I'm truly lost rn) F': [R2, E]

UW [D2, M]

TU ig U R' U: [M', U2]

UB / BU flip? M' U2 M U R' F' R S R' F R S' U

AK U' M U: [M, U2]

AU: [U2, M']

so edges went like this: QR DJ UB/BU FM UB/BU VW PU NU UW TU UB/BU AK AU

I not even going try the corners...

It can though, [R E2 R', U']
I recommend writing the whole edge memo before you start doing the algs, so it would be QR DJ LB VT (not VW) UW PB
However, in actual solves you would trace corners first and know there is parity, in which case you'd be better off putting D in the M position (UF/UR swap), so QR DM ON KS JL (notice how this is one alg fewer than the other solution, and has no cycle breaks). Don't do edge flips mid-solve to change what algs you need, only do them if you actually intend to flip edges. Also for UW I recommend Uw2 M' Uw2 M'

Ok, that cleared up like 12 questions. I'm using 3BLD 3-Style Edge Algorithms by Jack Cai, and in the L column it only give algs for M-X. I noticed that your LB alg is just BL but flip-flopped. Mind-blowing. But ig it makes sense.

My poor notebook...

uh... ok? I think I understand, but I'll take it one step at a time. Should I learn Edges or Corners first?

K, just using Cuberoot algs, I'll change it in my notebook and alg sheet.

p.s. I think I'm going to need a new notebook, mine rn has full OLL, PLL, ZBLL, BLD M2, WV, and some of 3-style edges.

p.p.s. Just check out your WCA, holy damn. I've an actual pro helping me. =[)

p.p.p.s. What cubes do you use for 3x3 MBLD? rn I only have a Tornado X-Man V4 Flagship, but I'm thinking about getting a MoYu Super WeiLong 3x3 V2, cause why not?

It doesn't really matter which you learn first, iirc I learnt corners first, but you can learn edges first if you want to. But it is pretty generally agreed that memorizing corners first and executing edges first is better, and if you do, you can take advantage of knowing whether there is parity by putting (in your case) white-blue in the spot of the white-orange edge if there is in fact parity, and treating white-orange as the buffer piece. This will make the number of edge targets even and sets you up nicely for solving parity during corners, especially if you use UFR buffer (you don't need 3-style corners for that! orozco is enough) and know your parity algs.

u would rather get the Moyu Ferrocore over the the super weilong v2 and if u rely on ur mom to buy u cubes (totally not me) get the RS3M V5
