I'm trying to learn Ortega on your site Erik(really nice site btw), but I don't think it has all the algs for step 3, every time I need to permute both layers it's always an alg that's not on there.
That's what I thought when I first tried it, but in a way, the diagrams just make it look more complicated than it actually is. You really only need the first 6 algs (and one of them is do nothing!):
1. Two adjacent corners on one face need swapping
2. Two diagonally opposite corners on one face need swapping
3. Don't need to do anything!
4. Top layer has 2 adjacent corners that need swapping, and bottom layer also has 2 adjacent corners that need swapping. Line them up as shown and you're good to go.
5. I believe this algorithm is written wrong on Erik's site - I think it's supposed to be LD'L F2 L'DL' (there was a missing ' at the end). For this one, it's top layer has two opposite corners that need swapping, and bottom layer has 2 adjacent corners that need swapping. If you have the reverse (top are adjacent, bottom are opposite), just flip the cube.
6. Top and bottom layers both have 2 opposite corners that need swapping. Just line them up and go.
Remember that the goal here is really just to make the top and bottom faces correct. You still might have to turn the top layer to line them up when you're done.
That really does cover all possible cases. It's pretty neat how well it works.
