12 color megaminx final layer star alignment

Hi Fellow cubers,

I recently bought 12 color megaminx from amazon.in. Below is the link

I have solved all the layers except the final layer. I am trying to make a star and not able to do so. I watched few videos online and all of those videos say there are only three configurations possible, when you reach final layer. Those are
- one edge piece is facing up matching with center piece
- three edge pieces are facing up matching with center piece
- five edge pieces are facing up matching with center piece

But surprisingly, in my case I see wither 2 edge piece or 4 edge piece are facing up matching with center color. Attached are the images

I have tried several algos but nothing works. In one of the threads I read that there is a case in 12 color megaminx which can't be solved. The thing that I don't understand is, few days back I was to able to make star and also align corners in their correct positions. the same cube now has become unsolvable. How is this possible??

PS: Nobody messed up with cube that i can guarantee

You have a flipped edge (unless one other edge somewhere on the cube is flipped) so you'll need to pop it out and manually flip it.

Also, don't normal megaminxes have 12 colours?

This cant be the case. as shadowslice e said: you have a flipped edge, which cant occur on a normal solve after a normal scramble. The only way that this is possible is that someone flipped an edge manually beforehand.

To make sure that I am not crazy, yesterday I solved the puzzle by flipping the pieces, scrambled again and tries to solve it . I ended up with same configuration of the last layer

Well, if you read the whole thread the problem was telling the difference between similar colors. Check to see if you switched a piece between similar colors.

No I started with a freshly bought cube

Ignore one of the edges that is flipped and solve everything else. You should have a solved megaminx with just one flipped edge. Pop that piece out and then put it back in correctly. That is the only way to solve this. Scramble it again and it should be solvable. I know you've said no one has messed with the cube, but it's really not possible to get to this state unless a piece pops out.

Another possibility is that there's a pair of adjacent faces with very similar colours, and it might not be obvious that the edge shared by the two faces is actually flipped.

It's simply not possible to have an odd number of edges flipped (even on a 6-colour megaminx where opposite faces have the same colour).
