This forum needs new mods

I don't see a problem

Then you're not watching close enough. I see every post that gets deleted and it's just ridiculous. Mods should be objective and delete posts when it's necessary, not when it aligns their own personal agenda.

Your explanation is a little concise.
Could you state an alternative vision for this forum?

I can't tell you how this forum should be run, I am only stating my opinion. But lets just say by chance all control of this forum was put in my hands, and it was completely up to me how it should be run. No post would ever get deleted unless it was obvious spam, advertisement, etc, etc; the obvious reasons. No matter how inflammatory, immature (or whatever wording you wish to use) it may seem, stifling anyone's point of view (no matter how stupid) defeats the purpose of a forum. Threads would also never be deleted (unless for the reasons previously specified), only moved to the appropriate location if they seemed out of place.

So, maybe it would have been a good idea to put this in the OP? As opposed to just stating "this forum needs new mods" with no justification?

On an off-topic note, I find it really hilarious that you abbreviated "grammar" to "grmr" in your reason for editing.

The mods try hard to keep in mind the forum rules, and there is often discussion between mods before taking any major action (like deleting a controversial thread or post).

The forum rules are setup to create a family friendly environment.

In my opinion, your suggestion would allow a lot of the posts that are incredibly off topic for the thread to remain. These can often derail a thread, and in some cases the stuff people post on this forum can be just plain mean. These types of posts are mostly the ones that get deleted. Again, see the family friendly environment goal and the forum rules.

You're right, that probably would have been a good idea. But I wasn't sure where to begin, so I just did what I did.

I see your point, but I simply don't agree with operating a forum in this manner. It should be possible to create a "family friendly environment" (which is really lame btw) without having to delete posts left and right; it just seems like you're using that as an excuse to justify the way the mods run the site. How can this forum be for the whole family when it seems like any post that comes off as even slightly childish is deleted?

You do not post "ZOMG I'm so slow and this is so dumb and 3x3x4's should be added" in the Constructive Speedcubing subsection of this forum.
This might be the way a lot of forums run, but this is a place to discuss cubes, how to get faster, and a place to be civil. Also, it's not like posts are being deleted left or right.
If you want an example see http://www.speedsolving.com/forum/showthread.php?22233-Speedcubin

Sorry but you can't use an example that's 4 years old. I'm not strictly talking about the ZOMG posts (although they aren't really a problem, you could just ignore them...), I'm also talking about posts that have done no wrong and inconspicuously get deleted. And yes it does happen left and right, I can assure you.

Does it?
You should probably pm some of the mods about the threads they delete.
More than likely they'll be happy to give you some data.
Sorry, but I feel doubtful that your claim is true without giving some solid evidence.

I cba to pm a mod everytime a post gets deleted, I have better things to do. That's the point of this thread. It's kind of hard to provide evidence when it's all been deleted, and I shouldn't have to because I'm sure the mods know exactly what I'm talking about.

I don't agree with you completely. But sometimes I do feel like it is a bit over-policed on here. I think that is a product of people abusing the forum in the past however. Not the fault of the moderators.
And if anything needs adjusting, it is the rules and how those rules define "spam" or "useless" posts. Because it is the mods job to enforce the rules, not change them to fit their needs. I don't think there is a cube agenda in mind when they delete a pointless post lol. There could definitely be a little more of a 'let it be' attitude though. But hey, I'm not a mod, nor do I envy the amount of crazy they have to deal with.

In defense of the mods- if you've ever been anywhere else on the internet, you know how bad things can get if mods just let things go. What generally happens in most forums is that the worst of the worst get to dictate the course of discussion, and everyone else becomes brought down to their level. Threads just turn into endless hostility.

I don't see this sort of behavior in this forum, which I partly attribute to the community, and partly to the mods who generally do a good job. I'd say its better to err on the side of stricter regulations given the young age of many readers here.

I think that the mods are doing alright. No one is perfect. Just be happy that there are mods that actually go through threads and weed out "bad" posts, at least by their definition.

Sure, they're doing ok I guess. They really shouldn't be deleting posts by their definition though, they should try to be more objective about it. I'm not saying all the mods are bad, I don't even know all the mods; but I see many posts get deleted that, imo, really shouldn't get deleted.
