ZZ brag (unrelated tips appreciated!)

Seriously to al3x. I just want to say honestly, if I were you and I knew I wasn't lying, I would take all the skepticism as a major compliment. People cannot believe what you've accomplished, meaning you've done something truly unbelievable.

Originally I did take it that way DeeDubb. People like Robert-y, TDM, a small kitten, and a few others have all been very helpful, and I appreciate that. I am also aware that people are right to be skeptical, but to badger me for video evidence instead of any real advice is offensive to me. I am trying to learn, not verify any of my claims. I'll send a few averages to those who have been helpful, but once again I do not want recognition

I do not want recognition
As soon as you make an extraordinary public claim, people start caring about your honesty regardless of whether you care about their recognition. For what its worth, I'm inclined to believe you, as your 2x2 average showed you are pretty fast.

I'm posting here just to point out that beyond the vocal few there are hundreds quietly reading this thread who would also very much enjoy seeing a video of your solving with ZB, and if you make one, please be generous enough to post it publicly and not hold it back to just a few. Thanks!

^^

This forum has a habit of alienating people extremely quickly through harsh scepticism and anally-retentive argument styles as demonstrated by a couple others earlier in this thread (apparently making a subjective claim is certain death). I honestly couldn't give a monkeys how fast you are, or whether you exaggerate your times, but it'd be cool to see someone using full (or near-full or whatever) ZB. You're welcome to PM me if you want to show, I don't mind.

I solved with ZZ for a few months and did a crap-ton of research on it, got down to around 11-12 second averages, I'm about high 8 with CFOP these days. There are certain things I'd be good at helping with, for other more specifics you'd want a ZZ main to talk to though.

This is quite a bold statement to make without doing any numerical research on the amount of active members vs. the amount who "pick holes in arguments" as you describe. Also you are claiming the existence of the board revolves around this when the URL, forum sections, and forum rules seem to imply that the existence of this board is for speed cubers to have a community where they can share information on cubing and work as a community for individual improvement. Now whether or not this actually happens is open for debate, however the "largely exists" argument is clearly flawed and has many holes that I've just picked.

I agree. To make such a claim is absurd when he backs it up with no evidence whatsoever and not a single quotation (which somebody made years ago) in sight.

<3

(the quote isn't that old, actually, it was on one of yoshinator's recent averages :P)

So, a random person comes in, says they're as fast as some of the world class competitors, but just doesn't compete.
When asked to show how fast he is, he makes up excuses first that he has nothing to film with, in 2014, where pretty much anything and everything has a camera.
Then, his next excuse is that he hasn't had time because school has kept him busy, as if doing an AO5 solve takes more than 5 minutes. Especially if he is as fast as he claims.

Afterwards, he starts to get defensive, because he knows he can't prove it, and blames people for not giving him enough time, when not only was this like 4-5 days ago, but he even said he was going to buy a camera the next day to show it.

Expected.

Tomorrow I'll swing by staples and pick up a cheap webcam and post it here (due to popular demand haha).

You can't blame people for being skeptical. Plenty of people make claims of grandeur on the internet, but most of them are not true. You have to realize that it seems unbelievable. And if you are telling the truth, why be defensive? Take it as a compliment that you do something unbelievable.

I've just started learning ZZ too. My times went up quite a bit as well. It takes practice. To plan the EO line practice by trying to plan your line with unlimited inspection. Also don't just time yourself. Do lots of untimed slow solves to help see where the pieces are moving during EO. I can't really say much else because I've only been doing ZZ for about 2 weeks. I hope this kind of helps.

lying or not, this makes me want to go and learn more ZZLL algorithms.

i'd be really interested in seeing someone with legitimate full ZBLL. ZZLL is already tricky enough as is for me to buckle down and finish (although completely do-able IMO). And with actual decent recognition too.

Idk if al3x still reads this thread but I'd just like to clarify that all the people that have been skeptical or just straight up saying his times are fake are most likely jealous, or envious towards al3x simply because it's a feat that they think is impossible or too much work etc. So then they just start ripping him apart on the internet with no knowledge of who he really is as a person and it's just sickening really it is... Now you're probably saying well that's the internet grow up.. Really? this is what the internet has done to society? A place where you can go and just lash out on any being they choose and receive no consequences. This is just wrong and you would think that a community so specialized as cubing is would be a little nicer to one another because we are such a small group and yes the occasional harping al3x for a video is understandable because it is exciting to think that someone has learned full 1LLL but we shouldn't just be telling him upload or you're a liar (except much harsher obviously) Now that that's out of the way I would love to help you in any way I can with ZZ I've only been using it since December however and it looks like we already avg the same at around the 20 second mark... So I doubt there's anything I can do for you now because your knowledge of the cube is most likely far greater than mine.. oh and btw if you ever do send out that video I would be absolutely honored and thrilled to receive it, I've pondered the idea of learning 1LLL before and I feel like seeing it in action would really be a great motivation and maybe inspire me to learn it as well... And finally I'd like to apologize for the hostility you received from this community and I'd just like to tell you that we're not all like that ;)

I stopped reading your stupid post after that point. As far as I'm concerned, none of us are jealous. We're just sceptical for good reason. When someone completely new and unkown comes along and claims to be world class/close to world class in 4 different events with absolutely no proof, who wouldn't be skeptical? If you want to use the stupid jealousy argument on us, go ahead. But just so you know a lot of people calling al3x out are people who have accomplished quite a lot in cubing and would thus have little reason to be "jealous".

Lol I'm not here to start a fight with any internet warriors I just simply stated my beliefs to why al3x is receiving this hatred from the community, and you are entitled to your own opinion as everyone else is but when you get all shook up like that and say he is getting this poor treatment because he hasn't uploaded any proof just strengthens my point...

I'm just gonna say that your opinion is bad and you should feel bad...

That's totally ridiculous.
Do you really expect us to believe someone who has been to 1 competition ages ago (with significantly slower times than he claims now) to be world class at multiple different events without asking for some sort of proof?

I don't care if I "strengthen your point" considering your point is so silly.

I'm not getting "shook up" over anything so don't even bother making assumptions about my attitude (Especially if you're going to completely ignore the points I made and dismiss it as just another opinion"). If anything, you're the one who's "shook up" considering how overly defensive you are of someone who seems to have been dishonest about his times. Don't even bother responding to this post if you're not going to rebut any of my points and just call me an internet warrior. Interesting choice of insult btw, considering you're arguing via the internet as well ;)
