[Help Thread] Skewb Discussion

kclejeune and ubercuber, pay good attention to the answer below and post something like that. Stefan has been asking for it for pages now, you two are just being silly and evading his point.

I already gave a specific answer for average, and as for single I agree with Ranzha's comment about it always being silly.

Skewb methods seem bad right now. The movecount is high as hell. I guess optimal algs for Sarah's advanced method could get it down, but that's a lot to learn.

6 move first layer, 10 move algs. At 4 tps that's roughly 4 seconds.

And extensions on Kirmeep are promising. Face->all 8 corners->L5C?

Or maybe a face except for the centre, then all 8 corners then all 6 centres?

My average movecount is 20 or so, if that means anything.

Hideki Niina's method is pretty epic. It's layer + U center -> rest (L4C + CLL). There are only 27 cases for the last step, and they're all here. Is anyone else practising using his method? I've never tried layer + U center, but there aren't too many cases to learn.

Even starting with a layer, the U centre takes on average 3.2 moves to build (sledge/hedge or solved). The method really is a fantastic idea.

Current WR holder uses KirMeep

This actually seems like an intriguing method.

Seeing as Hideki's method only requires 27 algs, you could expand the idea and solve a face+opposite centre, then EG+L4C which is "only" 55 algs.

This is the first thing that I thought of after I read about Hideki's method.

So I sanded all corners and edges, removed ball bearings and changed the springs to be much tighter and set the tolerance higher.

Turns kind of amazing, doesn't really pop. Adding anchors I made with plastic coke bottle screw on tops now so it never pops.

EDIT: Just added anchors, leaving it to dry overnight. Whole thing took 6 hours.

aww yea
