So... I would really like to make the transition to full OLL, but I'm experiencing a little problem. What happens is that Ill take a day or two to sit down and practice and memorize new OLLs. Once I get about 10-15 new OLLs memorized Ill stop and go back to speed solves. Ill use these new algs while they are fresh in my mind and Im concentrating on utilizing them. But if I don't continue to learn them and keep going on with speed solves, Ill end up going back to 2-look OLL even when its a case I know. I think this is partly because it takes a few seconds to distinguish if its a case that I know or a similar looking one that I don't know yet and I don't like wasting time if Im going for speed. And if enough time passes, Ill have to go back and re-learn algorithms that I had learned really solidly.
I realize how ridiculous this is, but how can I best remedy it? Should I give up going for speed for like a week?
I was thinking about just going through every OLL and practicing each for about 5-10 minutes. I know that at the end I wont be able to execute each of them when the time comes... but I think that it would really help because I would never come to a case which I had never performed the algorithm for, and I could more easily stop and think "hey, I know I've done this algorithm before" and go back and re-learn it if I need to.
So what do you think the best way to tackle this is? How did you learn OLL? Did you find any problems while learning them where you really had to stop doing what you wanted to do and force yourself to learn a certain way?
