Hey everyone I just recently found this forum and was quite interested so I signed up! I'm 15 and have learned how to solve a rubiks cube about 2 years ago but only recently have I decided to pick up speed cubing about a month ago. I'm a CFOP user and average 39-40 seconds. My personal best is 30.87 (PLL skip) and 31.55 without a PLL skip. I learned intuitive F2L at a very early stage (when I was averaging 1:20). I use 4LLL and am attempting to learn full PLL (I already know 11 algorithms) and I'm probably going to stop there since 57 algorithms sounds way too much for full OLL. I use a Fangshi Shuang Ren and am going to start learning how to solve a 4x4 cube once it arrives in the mail! I'm also working on BLD solving on the side when I'm bored and maybe I'll pick up Roux since it looks cool when you're solving.

First of all, welcome to the world of cubing! Or, speedcubing to be precise. anyway, I myself have started speedcubing since May 2013 and I'm a year younger than you are. Well, 57 algs for 1Look OLL isn't actually way to much. I myself memorised only about 30+. It's pretty useful on CFOP unless you want to switch to other methods such as Roux, ZZ, Petrus, Heise, Waterman or something.

OLL isn't as much as it sounds, they are easy algorithms. You should easily handle up to learning 1-3 every day.

Hope you enjoy it. full OLL isn't necessary really till you're trying to get sub 15 or below many people would agree. I've been cubing 3 1/2 years now and still haven't finished it. work on lookahead, fingertricks, learning new ways to do f2l cases, etc. Cutting down your cross and f2l times (and transitions from one to the other) will be the biggest factor by far in getting faster.

Thanks for the nice welcome! My goal for now is averaging sub-25. From there, I'll figure out what to do. I heard that full OLL doesn't affect your times too much. But 3LLL seems like enough for a sub-25 average. I'm mainly working on my F2L right now and my fingertricks.

Yeah, full OLL doesn't affect your times that much actually. It'll probably just affect around 1-2 seconds or lower. Try learning sub methods that involves skipping the OLL (I don't actually remember what it's called). Watch Mats Valk's videos and see him skipping OLLs almost everytime. By the way, do start practice on doing your cross on D. And learn X-Crosses to as it's somehow useful sometimes.

Those sub methods are pretty much useless if you want to become sub 25. I would recommend learning full PLL

I agree. I forgot that what I said was a tip on getting sub-20 that I read from somewhere. I myself avg 25 just by using full OLL. But, I'd recommend watching example solves done by fast speedcubers on Youtube.

you don't need those things for sub 15. Also, full OLL isn't even necessary for sub 15, though it does help to get sub 15

I have been trying to solve the cross on the D since yesterday. I guess I would work further into that.
