Hey Speedcubers,
I was happy to find out today is the day i celebrate one year of cubing.
So now that im not so new in cubing,is there anything I must learn like a new method or whatever.Right now many of my friends are telling me to move on t the Roux method.Im not sure if i should right now im sub-20 and im aiming to reach sub-15.Any advice or tips (by the way i use crop).

One thing to note is that if you want to reach sub15 with roux, you'll probably have to learn CMLL, thats 42 algorithms, you probably already know around 10 of them.

Just to tell you im quite young and all i really care about is algorithms.Thats until i hear all these fancy cubing words that i never knew and never understanded.I think ill go on the wiki and study cubing more properly.

If you're sub 20, switching won't do much good for you since you are at a clearly proficient level with CFOP. I would say try and speed up your F2L, reduce the pause from cross to first pair, and then just drill your LL execution and recognition.

Yeah true, there is a humongous gap for me when it comes to reduce the pause between cross and first f2l pair. How do i decrease it i tried my best.

sadly, you're probably right, it might take a while to "catch up" to your old times if you switch to roux

Yes, in which time you could have gotten faster on your primary method :/ I still mess with roux for fun occasionally though.

What are you trying to say.

3 months ago I was sub 25 with CFOP, and now I'm sub 20 with Roux. It took me quite a while to get to sub 25. (With CFOP)

So your trying to say switching to roux is faster.

Nope, the reason that I went to sub 20 in 3 months was probably because I already knew stuff like how to make pairs. When I was using CFOP, it was the first 'advanced' method that I learnt so I didn't know many things.

i hope that makes sense

He's saying that while you're getting faster with Roux, you could also be getting faster at CFOP.

It took me long to get sub 20 probaly because i used layer by layer for 7 months so it only took 2 months for me to get sub 20 if i didn't use layer by layer when i started cubing.

I got to sub-20 with CFOP but then I switched to ZZ two weeks ago, and I'm already at a 25 second average, I've already gotten quite some sub-20 solves.

Yeah but you're only progressing so fast BECAUSE of those fundamental skills from CFOP. Any cuber can benefit from knowing it. The same goes for CFOP users. All of us should know how to use roux because of say the blockbuilding skills.

In my experience, it took me 2 weeks to catch up to my 25 second average i had in CFOP when I switched to roux. If you are a fan of the ideas of roux, just do it and don't look back.
I made my decision im learning roux.If i do succeed in it i might be using roux as my main method but right now ill stick with cfop until i fully learn roux.

Afaik theoretically Roux is a faster method as it is more efficient than CFOP. However doing CFOP F2L to a pretty decent level you have probably learned most of your intuitive solving "the wrong way" in terms of doing the 1x2x3 blocks efficiently, since the first steps of Roux do not have the same limitations as F2L.

I think sub20 is great but to be honest the real game starts at sub 12 or sub 10 and you're pretty far away from that with CFOP. Changing to Roux would slow you up at the beginning, but if you were able to really get into it it could pay off later.

Lol same here only differences are:

1) I never sub 25'd with CFOP :D
2) It took me about 4-5 months to get sub-20 after switching

anyway, to op, sub-20 with your home method is already a fine accomplishment and however much I want to tell people to switch (haha), it'd probably be best for you to stick with CFOP because building bloks will be hell for you for the first couple weeks or so. Because of your CFOP background, you will be building and inserting pairs and bloks very inefficiently.
