Times for each step

I'm going for 1 min times (to start off) using the Fridrich method and I'm wondering about how long each step should take. Basically I'm wondering what the percentage of the total time each step should be so I can work on what I'm slowest on first.

Also, I use F R U R' U' F' or F U R U' R' F' to form the cross before doing OLL because 50 algorithms is to much to memorize right now, especially because I'm only half done learning the PLLs. If I have no edges right I just use one of those OLLs because forming the cross would take too long (I haven't learned these yet, but I'm going to).

Anyway, I was thinking 5 sec cross, 35 sec F2L, 5 sec 2nd cross, 7 sec OLL, and 7 sec PLL. For the record I don't use finger tricks yet, and I'm kinda slow on F2L. Tell me if I'm about right here, please.

Also recently I got 1:26 using beginner's method except I use the PLL corner rotation instead of the beginner method because its twice as fast =]. yay for me

You should avoid Fridrich and the PLLs for now. Stick with LBL and 4LLL until you hit about 55 seconds or so. Only THEN should you start using more advanced methods.

Ignore all of these people telling you to do LBL or other methods. If what you are doing works for you, keep at it.

Your time breakdowns seem about right, though I think my cross was slower than yours when I was at your level. Of course that 7 second PLL might be longer when you land on one of the cases you don't know and need to do a 2 look PLL. But these are averages.

You might try using the "step by step" option on the timer at rubiks.tw . It lets you hit space after each step, so you can break down C, F, O, and P and see which one really needs work. But honestly, at your level, I'd just practice and learn the PLLs as you are able. You'll make gains all over, but the big ones will be in F2L if you are like most people.

Brian.

The breakdowns seem reasonble, except the 5 second crosses
the first cross should probably more than 5 seconds (unless you really practice that a lot), and the second one should be less(2-3s max because its usually 6 moves :p)

How to flip 4 edges in 6 moves?

I meant to write *usually* 6 moves
having to flip all 4 edges for EOLL occurs only ~1/8 times
