Thoughts on the puzzle: It is an amazing cube. Straight out of the box, with just tensioning - no lube or mods, and it is awesome, way better than my v-cube. It is a good cube, does not require breaking in like the v-cube and is also $20 cheaper. There is really no reason to buy the v-cube over this. For the price, and the quality, it is a no-brainer. I can finally get into 5x5 without being annoyed at the painstaking task of performing turns on my v-cube. I would definitely recommend this cube. Even without the mod, it is still very good, and great for a beginner like me.

Where I got it: TheCubicle
When: February/March 2012
My Thoughts: 9/10 Very good overall.
This is a noisier cube with a slightly rough feel on the outer layers, but I find the inners to be amazingly smooth.
The only gripe I have with this cube is the bugginess of the outer layers. I wouldn't say that it locks up but the odd time the edge will slightly catch; although not enough to lock the cube up. Normally when it snags you can power through it so it's not as bad as a lock up but it's a little distracting on a solve. I modded all of the corners and it helped a lot but it still happens the odd time.
I also have a VCube5 that is very broken in. To say that it's way better than a VCube might be a little much..They are both excellent cubes and I think it comes down to personal preference. I think they are both pretty equal in build quality but I have to give the edge to the SS due to the fact that you can adjust the tension. I like a slightly tighter than normal cube and often find myself popping a lot on my V-cube. I guess I'm a rough/sloppy cuber but at about 1/3 of the price, the SS is a no-brainer. Also, I've always liked the SS colour scheme and stock sticker quality.
I strongly recommend this cube.

Where I got the cube: HK Now Store
When I got it:start of summer 2012
My thoughts: Amazing 5x5, Great out of the box, Some pops though.

Where i got it : Amazon for like...11ish dollars
When: 11/21/2012
My Thoughts: first real time playing with a 5x5x5 feels really good but like didn't realize how easily it could lock up if i'm not careful, playing with it feels really fun though, haven't modded or really tensioned it yet but i will at some point in the near future i feel.

[Video] Newly Modded Shengshou 5x5 Review

This cube is much better than my old modded Shengshou 5x5 and has a crunchier feeling. It rarely locks up and when it does, it's just because the cube is tensioned pretty loose. I also get pops occasionally but it doesn't explode.

Off topic: The Cube Specialist has mod-cut Sheng shou 4 and 5 stickers.

Nice vid.

Newly Modded Shengshou 5x5 Review

I know, I just don't want to order stickers from another country. I already had the Cubesmith stickers and I like having the same sticker shades on my cubes.

Your stickers look great just providing an alternative for the guy who was asking. :-)

Thoughts: Out of the box, I was surprised at how smooth it turned. I had a Rubiks brand 5x5 before, so I was also surprised at how small it was. Having played with it since, I really like how it fits in my hand (Yeah yeah, I know, that's what she said). I loosened the tensions a little bit, but had to be careful as not to loosen it to the point of popping. I also lubricated the core to fix the springy sound it was making. Overall, it has a nice feeling that gets even better after modification.

Where i got the cube: Flipkart
When i purchased the cube:today (2-8-13)
Thoughts on the cube:

The cube is very stable and durable. Its a good speed cube, and pieces dont pop out like the rubik's 5x5.But the only problem is that it lacks corner cutting which can be overcome by florian mod.

Where: Cubewerkz @ Tampines 1
When: Today (8 August 2013)
Thoughts: Hmmm... really cheap (cheaper than my Dayan Zhanchi), smooth out of the box. Corner cutting is so-so. However, while the cube is smooth, the outer layers are actually not as smooth as the inner layers (usually the other way around). I might need more play time on this cube to see how it goes (and update this in due time). Right now though, I think this is an excellent speedcubing 5x5 and hopefully I can master speedcubing on it.

Where: TheCubicle.US
When: About 2 weeks ago.
Thoughts: A little dry and tight out of the box. Took every side back a 1/4 screw, threw in some Maru... like a whole new cube. Better than both my V5s, little smaller so it fits in the hand better too. Got a new PB after about a week of getting used to how it moves. I'll likely get another one so I can mod it adn have this as a backup. Uh-mazing.
