4x4 Edge Pairing

I've recently been getting into 4x4, and I'm around a 2:30 average. I want to start to practice learning a good edge pairing method.

How many edges should I pair at a time? 2? 4? 6? 8? All but 2? Right now, I'm pairing 2 edges at once. I am wondering what people think is the best and most efficient way.

I personally enjoy 4-4-2-2. Get one, cut back 3. Get 2, cut back 2. Finally, do the last four edges however you wish.
