I herd that they are discussing banning certain methods being used to calculate an official single 3x3 time because they are too efficient and it's not considdered fair to the lesser efficient methods requiring far more skill as they require a higher TPS rate. Nothing seems to have been set in stone, but it seems pretty obvious that the method in question is Roux. But Ao5 times will still count as official records? Sounds stupid to me what with the whole hubbub of stickerless cubes, if they are going to ban its use, they should ban it altogether.

lol? WCA seems to be mad they dont have a world record it seems and who cares if it takes more skill right? im sure most agree using a zhanchi is easier then using a store bought, next it wont be lube and then wont be able to use you're fingers

1. Do you mean method of calculating (as in timing a solve) or banning certain methods of solving?

because they are too efficient and it's not considdered fair to the lesser efficient methods requiring far more skill as they require a higher TPS rate. Nothing seems to have been set in stone, but it seems pretty obvious that the method in question is Roux.

2. Efficient methods with lower move counts require more thought and a greater understanding of the cube and should be encouraged. By that principle solving with Petrus method could be banned (in fact, everyone would have to solve with a beginner's LBL method) and all the BLD solvers who use 3-cycles or commutators would have their methods banned to cater for people using simpler methods to be "fairer" to them. This would hinder any form of innovation or progress and would make the whole idea of a competition completely redundant.

Sounds stupid to me what with the whole hubbub of stickerless cubes, if they are going to ban its use, they should ban it altogether.

3. Where did you hear this? What are your sources? Or is it just a word of mouth? Not the banning of stickerless cubes, but about this banning methods 'thing'?

People of higher intelligence are not allowed to use their mind, because they would have an advantage to the people of minor intelligence.
