Sub 40 to Sub 10

How long does it take from sub 40 to sub 10? I am now constinatly averaging about 37 ish. I just want a time estimate. Or is it just different for everyone?

Not many people have actually achieved sub-10 (average of 12), so I would consider a lighter goal like maybe sub-15.

Based on that, it could take anywhere from a few months to a few years. Unless you are just destined to not be fast, you should be able to get to sub-15 if you learn all your algorithms (full OLL and PLL) and put an effort into practicing and improving.

I've been sub 40 for over 2 years, yet I'm no where near sub 10. Other people can go from learning the cube to sub 10 in a year.

I got sub-40 in 2005-6, and my best average right now is 10.52. Just for reference.

A few people who were sub-40 in the 1980s are still cubing. I am pretty sure none of them are sub-10.

Years ago there weren't really any decent cubes so it'd take longer. Nowadays we have dayan cubes which help a lot. With enough determination and practice, perhaps you can do it in 1.5 years...

Speedsolving is dead to me. I've crossed the abyss. CFOP is just an uncomfortable way to get from a DNF to my next scramble.

Depends on the cube you use as well. I got sub 40 with Rubiks brand and got sub 30 with v cube 3 and now sub 20 with mini zhanchi. Ive been cubing for nearly 1 year now Good luck.

I disagree. Determination and good practice are important, but I think there are limiting factors that will prevent some people from being sub 10. It is not as easy for some people as others, and I'm not convinced everyone can get there.

I agree. I am one of these persons. I have set my hopes on concequent sub 30s. I will be very happy with that with a PB single of sub 20.
