Hello! I'm Julia, I've been cubing for about 2 months. I average about 1:25, but improve every day.
I've been hooked ever since Austin Reed (otherwise known as AustinReed, haha) taught me.
What should I learn next?

wow,girl cuber....
quite rare (at least what i've seen....)
try to be as much comfortable with ebginner at first as possible...
then when u achieve about 1.05-1.10,i think u can try to learn Fridrich method [or other ones if u want to...]

That's awesome. :) I'm planning on learning the Roux method a little later on.

Roux's a lot of fun. When I was a beginner I kind of cheated myself by only learned CFOP and didn't learn the others until later on (25ish seconds). I started Roux and became addicted and it has been my main method ever since. Learn (to a certain extent) all of the big four to find what you really like before you get too fast and it's hard to switch.

I've been cube like 3 months on and off. I started with beginners. And at around 1.20avg I learned inuitive F2L then when I got sub 1min avg I learned 2-Look OLL and 2-Look PLL and I'm still doing 2-Look OLL. And now my PB is 37.01 avg of 5 and I'm learning all the rest of plls I have left (Gs, Ns and V). :)

Hi there. : ]

I may suggest to start with Roux right away. Layer-by-layer sticks to your brain after some time, and Roux is nothing like it, blocks are fun!
Cubing supposed to be fun, so just enjoy. Cheers.

I disagree, Roux is hard. (in my opinion.) She should experiment with multiple methods then go with the one she likes. As roux is quite hard I recommend learning it when you are sub 30 and you can switch then. (Sub 30 doesn't take too long.) That way you have more experience with the cube.

Jack :)

Edit: I forgot the most important thing, Welcome :)

Nono. She should start with Roux because it's hard. On two 3 hour coach rides I taught a (noncuber) friend Roux- by the end of it his head hurt a lot but he could solve it. I then showed him CFOP and Petrus as a side note- he could do it easily right after I showed him the steps (except alg parts). It was torture, until he did his first solve ever, without my help with Roux, we were both so happy and glad we did it. Point is, if you can do something hard, you'll find many other things easy. Plus Roux blocks and LSE gives lots of techniques for being cube fluent (the one it misses is comms ofc)

And why do you say she should try multiple methods yet leave Roux until sub-30. I wholly agree that she should try as many methods as possible, but leaving Roux because it's hard? I disagree.

Hi Julia,

I am a newbie too. Also about 2 months. I average around 1:10 now and have a PB of 1:00. I time only once per week. I really enjoy still getting faster. I guess that will not last long.. LOL Btw, I would recommend learning the CFOP with pairing in F2L right from the start. I did that too and times dropped as soon as I got used to making pairs.
