Not to burst your bubble or anything but it takes a lot of time and practice to get sub 1.8. Not to say that it won't happen, you'll just have to practice a lot

I got a new Master Magic because my old one sucked, and it started de-stringing almost every solve about a month later...

Yea that happened this one too. I just kept restringing it haha. But i also recently bought the replacement strings from cubedepot, and they're great!
