Your thoughts on the new Private forum?

Honestly I think the private forum is a good thing of itself, but posting in the main forum here needs to be held to a stricter standard. There is a ton of crap posting. The whole standard newb posting dumb question thing shouldn't be tolerated and should be booted for a couple days. There's no excuse with all the warnings and reminders you guys give.

Yup, the private subforum is definitely not seeing a lot of action, and yet when it does see action it fulfills its intended purpose. I think that counts as an "I told you so" to everyone who thought it'd become a private club where all the smart people spend all of their time and be elitist.

Yes. Go read some threads for examples of this.

Is it fulfilling that purpose enough for it to be of additional value to the forum such that its continued existence is warranted?

What kind of clutter?

"Clutter" is perhaps an exaggeration :p . But it does take up that extra space on my screen, and I'm pretty sure the OH subforum was removed because it was essentially just a waste of space, even though it was used. It's my personal opinion that the speedsolving.com should aim for a less-is-more approach to subforums.

Already another place for that.

Really? I find this post much more irritating than someone asking how they can improve their f2l time or be sub 20. At least they are uninformed; you are just rude.

More to the point: I personally dislike the concept of the private forum immensely. I don't publicly complain about it... if other people want to use it, well that is their business. Just based on my own principles, however, I refuse to read anything in that forum.
