Yeah like Alex said, not exactly true. The top 3 did *know* SS, but I didn't use it most of the time.SS: this method is quite fast, the top 3 at nationals all used it. also Phil Thomas used it for both of his NARs.
well tim was making a big deal about the top three using SS so i figured he was right.
And yeah, so far I've learned almost all the CLL cases of EG, and my recognition time is so terrible. It takes me a second to recognize the permutation, and then another couple seconds to remember the alg, but I think with a few months of practice I can get the recognition time down significantly. Then this will completely get rid of Ortega for me. And for the solves that have 1 or 2 or 3 move first faces, I can lookahead to the EG case in inspection and solve the cube in pretty much one look. I think it has a lot of potential.
yeah EG recognition blows, thats why i am not pursuing it (yet). if i ever do, i'll probably generate the algs for the other cases myself again, since the ones i sent you were the ones I was most comfortable with.
and if you want and insane amount of algs, try DOTS( David's Opposite Then Solve method). it is a theoretical(for now) method that combines OFOTA and EG. i think it has 3132 algs. (87 OFOTA x 6 permutations for bottom layer x 6 permutations for top layer=3132). depending on how bored i get, the algs might be fully generated by this time next year. its OFOTA first layer, then you solve. i know recognition would suck, but due to OFOTA's 1 move first layer, you do all recognition during inspection.
