Hey Everyone,
So I learned Full PLL and i know about 20 OLL and i really want to get Sub-20. ianography told me on youtube that i need to get F2L down to around 12 seconds. I know a lot of little intuitive F2L tricks but it still takes me around 18 seconds. So I was wondering if anyone could give me tips to get faster at F2L. Thanks!!

First of all, use the search function.

Basically, learn look-ahead, and for some special cases learn algorithms. Also learn to insert from all angles

Either use burst speed+fast recognition or slow turning+look-ahead (the latter is better). Both can get you 10 second f2l without learning new things (8 for f2l, 2 for cross).

This leaves you 3 seconds for OLL, and 7 seconds for PLL :D

On a similar note...anyone know how to get f2l down to around 6 seconds?

My F2L is Sub 15 on average. But I can get it down to 8-10 every 2 or 3 solves.

The secret is to be color neutral. Because there is always a possibility that there are completed F2L Pairs while you are using you 15 second Inspection time.
And its never too late to be color neutral either.

You can't say that with absolute certainty, as Kirjava and others love pointing out often in color neutrality discussions. For all you know, your personal improvement could have been even faster if you weren't color neutral.

:rolleyes:Does every answer have to be filled with  emoticons to state that it is funny :p or serious:confused:

What range are you at now? and what was the hardest hurdle to overcome before that?

lol, I didn't know if you were kidding or not.

My f2l's around 7 seconds right now.

lol
Not really. Since non-CN cubers are so used to solving one side, how do you know their look-ahead isn't better than that of someone who is CN?
Some fast cubers that are not CN:
Conny
Simon Westlund
David Woner
Weston Mizumoto
Breandan Vallance
Anthony Brooks

Masato Onobe, Hubi and Gabriel Dechichi Barbar are all sub 8 avg non CN iirc.
CN is probably quite advantageous but it isn't needed to get good.

Let's add Erik to that list and list can go on. I personally think CN is great for finding easier crosses and is nice to have, but it does not make you fast automatically. CN or not, you have to work and practice to get fast.

As for the OP, go slow and look ahead. Perhaps, watch a tutorial on youtube. I would recommend pcwizcube's video.

I call BS on Jorghi. He just made a thread about just breaking 40 seconds. It seems like he's only here to brag (and lie). His PB would be sub20 if he has really completed F2L in 8 seconds. But alas, it is 33.02. Therefore, I call BS. My F2L takes about 25 seconds with the last layer around 10-12 seconds. This dude must suck ass at LL!

um. I sub 10 my F2L constintly wtihout color neutral.;;
I don't think color neutral is necessary til you start getting serious about x cross
