My Rantings Concerning 3x3 Methods.

On factor of a method, wich is maybe very importend for popolarity is the "relaxing" feature. But since I can practise a relaxing methode longer ... it's maybe even a speed factor

Doing CFOP is really relaxing (just plan a cross ) and go on.

The only other methode I can do as relaxed as CFOP is Corners "First/Watermann" (I never manged to improve this enough, but instead learned Roux)

What I really like about Petrus is it's minimal footprint when you first lean it, and its broad variity of extensions, like EJF2L, CLS , Wintervariation.
Or just switching over to Heise if lucky blocks demand for it (while delaying EO)
Or things like "Mixed Last Slot" , "Last 5 Edges" but maybe I'm the only one using this.

Same goes for WV here, which is why that's not listed.

Winter Variation doesn't add an extra step; it's intention is to eliminate half a step and to be used with methods with LL edges already oriented. Though the advantage it gives is maybe 2 or 3 moves fewer than insert + OCLL. The success of Winter Variation depends on how fast you learn to recognize compared to the same amount of practice put into OCLL.

I'm sorry, I take that back.

Nonetheless, I don't think WV is very good. Prove me wrong with movecount comparisons?

The average movecount for the Winter Variation sequences is 8.07. OCLL averages 7.93 moves. This means that the only difference in movecount will come from final pair insertion. I don't know how to give a number for that, so I would just estimate 2 or 3 like in my previous post.

But, like I said, Winter Variation really relies on recognition time. It has 27 cases compared to the 7 for OCLL. That's quite a difference that would require more time invested to learn to recognize fast. I'm not suggesting that this be a step everyone uses, but, as long as someone can get their recognition time down equal to OCLL, I think it would be just slightly faster than insert + OCLL.

That was a good read.

My little rant...
Many people that don't use CFOP say its "boring", but I never have found it boring. They say its just spamming the cube with algs to solve it...but how many people actually use algs during f2l? I think its safe to say most use intuitive, yes they will develop a 'move set' for different cases, but the same thing happens with other methods. Such as roux (which seems to be the biggest promoter to CFOP/fridrich to be 'boring') the first block is intuitive yes, so it the cross. And the first block only involves 1 more piece than the cross as 'intuitive', but from then on the ideas are the same. Meaning for the right side 1x2x3 you develop a habit for the solving of pieces based on their location. Then it is an alg for corners and another set of small algs to get the edges oriented (even though it doesn't feel like it, it is. M'UM' to change the cycle..then repeat until oriented). Some say it isn't and 'algorithm', but if that isn't then what is?. For the UR and UL edges its the same thing. You see where they are and will do the same moves to solve them, much like a CFOP/fridrich user will do with an f2l pair. An the last step is algorithms too, which doesn't help the argument....Finally some place i could put this without it being extremely out of place. Glad I got it out.

I'm not singling out Roux users as the only ones doing it but I have switched to Roux recently and have been following everything on it, so I have come across the 'CFOP is boring, Roux is
way different and better' saying alot recently.

I love Roux BTW.

My Rant About The Main 4 Methods or rather nubs that use them

CFOP nubs - What can I say? Most CFOP nubs use CFOP because someone fast use CFOP and set some kind of record. How nub. Other CFOP nubs use CFOP because another method seemed to hard. How nub, you can't just turn down a method because it's hard. (By the CFOP I consider CFOP the easiest method to be fast with, all algs, less brain). My main complaint about CFOP nubs is as mentioned that people just say that CFOP is the best because some nub WR holder uses it. (Faz is nub and he knows it, but I love him anyway). It's nubs like that really get on my nerves. No I thought of something else. It really gets on my nerves when CFOP nubs think that the method they are using is called Fridrich even though J.Fri herself didn't make it.

Roux nubs - Most Roux nubs (Nouxbs) will say CFOP is boring. (I know I used to) That's annoying. Why people be hating? Nouxbs have the tendency to pompous thinking too much of themselves as elitist (I know I used to) Nouxbs should talk less yap and focus on proving it. Look at BigGreen, no one even noticed that he got a 8.xx in competition using Roux. Nouxbs are because of this reason. That's like saying, "Hey, I'm a nonconformist in the cubing world and I'm better than you since I don't conform." Whatever. I just won't listen. Nouxbs are in their own little world since they know something more. That makes them worst than CFOP nubs who are just clueless. A little knowledge is the dangerous thing. And saying this I still have lots to learn.

Petrus nubs - Nothing bad about petrus nubs. They are the most humble of all the nubs. Plainly seeking a way to get out of nubbliness. Most petrus nubs are kind and considerate. Polite when asking questions. Why can't Nouxbs and CFOP nubs be like these guys ;-;

ZZ nubs - I have never EVER met a ZZ nub. It seems that ZZ nubs don't stay in nub form long enough for me to study them. damn. They are like a little caterpillar immediately blooming into a kitten. But with a lack of documentation I fear that ZZ nubs are very endangered.

By the way, I don't think CFOP is boring...just...overused. forever a village bike....like your mom.

I like your idea about ZBF2L -> ZBLS. I'm going to start using that.

VH should just die in a fire.

I don't really consider TFM and Salvia to be serious methods, they're just oddball ideas.

You missed a bunch of stuff, but you covered all the main points. Good read.

I've met plenty of ZZ nubs. The two most common kinds are people who say they use ZZ but then don't understand the EO line. The other kind is the type that just uses EO cross all the time.
