What is necessary to be sub-10?

Then it seems like your tps are high enough to be sub10. I guess that means you are to slow in your look-ahead / recognition.
If you do the same scamble again and again, can you be sub10?? You can try my "Double Kill Scramble" It is easy to remember:

M U R D E' R M U R D E' R

OMG what a scramble xD

Usually F2L takes me 6-10 seconds, cross 0.5-2 sec. , OLL 1-3 sec., PLL 2-4 sec. My worst times are between 19 and 21, normal times 16-19 and best times 14-16.

That is a really good scramble for anyone who uses petrus.

I got 13.99.

once i learned all the necessary algs for cfop i just started solving like a crazy person, took about 3 months to go from 18 to ~11

It took me 2 months and a half to get sub-20, and 2 other months to get where I am (Learned 30 OLL's, practiced some 4x4, 2x2 and bld3x3, but nothing else). These last two weeks I've gone from high 18 to low 17. I could and should practice a lot more =/

I gave this scramble a try. After 50 attempts, my best was 12.70. But that was with a couple of shortcuts I never would have seen while solving normally. The solve is a possible normal solve for me other than those two shortcuts, but it was probably the fourth or fifth solution I tried. One problem I have with doing things like this is that I can't help settling on a better than average solve.

23.45, 26.36, (32.41), 27.49, 26.18, 21.73, 21.57, 19.11, 16.85, 16.59, 18.26, 15.63, 15.04, 15.13, 16.30, 16.53, 14.45, 14.89, 15.47, 14.72, 20.70, 16.46, 15.04, 14.90, 14.50, 17.93, 22.50, 14.43, 14.66, 16.29, 14.01, 17.67, 15.36, 14.22, 14.28, 14.51, 14.15, 14.93, 15.17, 13.51, 13.35, 14.50, 13.25, 13.92, (12.70), 15.07, 13.86, 13.14, 13.37, 16.01

Got a PLL skip at the second solve with the Double Kill Scramble... 12.55 Won't count it as a valid solve. Scramble is just tooooo easy.

I think color neutrality does help, but there are many cubers who are not CN, but are just as fast.
Right now, I think that Cornelius and Breandan are the two fastest cubers behind Faz, and neither of them or CN or DCN. I'm pretty sure Cornelius even does cross on top (at least sometimes). So it's not 100% necessary, but if hate being restricted to just one cross color, then become CN and see if it improves your times at all.
But then again, practice is always the best :)

Scramble is just tooooo easy.

I made it as a practice scramble. It is easier to remember words than R F U2 F' D' ....
It is for practicing OLL. I scramble it with different colors as U and F and solve it the same way many times in a row and learning the OLL that comes out. I think it is easier to remember OLL's when I use them in solves than if I do the alg. 20 times.

yeh, practice is the only way to sub-10 :> when i cubed at most i did about 300 solves a day

Their are plenty of people who can sub 10 without being color neutral, but I think it does decrease your cross time by a little over a second and that is all the difference between being sub 10 and not.

Awesome. If I become color neutral, most of the time i can pick up the cube and the cross will already be solved.

I "just" want to be sub30, and this is how I plan to achieve that:

Cross: 7 moves = 4s = 1,75 tps
F2L : 4*8 moves = 16s = 2,00 tps
OLL : 10 moves = 5s = 2.00 tps
PLL : 13 moves = 5s = 2.60 tps

moves= avg. of moves in the algs used for each step.

So to be sub10, these stats should read:

C: 1.33s = 5.25tps
F: 5.33s = 6.00tps
O: 1.66s = 6.00tps
P: 1.66s = 7.80tps

I really think you should aim for a faster cross, which is easily achievable if you can use inspection well. The cross estimate in your sub-10 calculation is about how fast I am at cross and I have never gotten a sub-15 avg12 (I haven't done real 3x3 practice in quite awhile though...but my point still stands)

I am still noob, I averaged about 45secs, now I average at 30-35 secs, first of all tension your cube, mod your cube if needed like I did to my GuHong, look for next F2L pair while solving, find short basic OLL and PLL algs, usually we go hard out when we're almost finished the solve, you must go hard out all the way, you might like warm cubes and so on... get the perfect settings when solving, have quick F2L knowledge and know when, how and where to start and end the F2L pair.
I also usually solve with white as cross face so pretty much I do last layer on yellow.
That's pretty much how I improved so much!

It's certainly true what you say about having quick F2L knowledge. Since I try solving color neutral I find myself not knowing how to complete a pair, or pairing and inserting it wrong. But that's just lack of practice being CN.
