[Official] A solve of a 50-year-young cuber

i find it interesting that he contributes his success in 3x3 speedsolve to 4x4. i was stuck at around 20 for a long time as well, but after a long time of practicing big cubes 4,5 for almost 5 months with barely touching a 3x3, i dropped sub 20 after that easily for some reason. it just seems so easy to turn the cube and the lookahead skill is developed a lot when doing bigcubes. very interesting.

For me the 4x4 improved my lookahead dramatically , I notice the effect after training the 4x4 for a while. When I drove my car I noticed statutes , houses on the side of the road I never noticed before. And I drove frequently on that road!

With a 4x4 you learn to follow multiple pieces and you practise the 3x3 phase not at the full 3x3 speed, so you try be more effective on the F2L...to use less turns...and not rotate the cube to much

I was 20 when I started to solve the cube for fun my time then was around 40-45 sec. Then I started speedcubing when I was 42

Interesting. I started 30 years ago too and my best time was around 40-45. After a 30 years long break, I restarted last year at 42. I find it's way harder at this age! So, you're my model now. :) I play with the 4x4x4 too: it helps me a lot for look-ahead.

PS: I like your previous video a lot.
