Proposed OLL Naming Convention

You can name all EO cases like this:
+, L, J, 7, Γ (gamma), I, - (dash), .(dot)
I like this idea more than the L3 thing. But instead of gamma, how about P? (Or F.) So we have + L J 7 F I - ..

This would be a very nice system for team BLD OLL, I think. One rotation and two syllables gives a global code for any OLL. "y Pi 7", "A dot", "y2 L L".

EDIT: 7 isn't one syllable, is it? If you want to optimize you could call it "T" instead. Or "sept".

i like the obscurity of sarahs naming system. this is how many people learn japanese, to remember the pattern and make it synonymus with a figure? like 'ko' is the edges of a 'co'in, kinda thing. of course, sarahs names probably have much to do with a wild imagination and 'you had to have been there' experiences. but much like we all learn from bld, the more obscure it is, the more it sticks in our memory. for team bld, i think it would be better to have a naming system based upon something like this. i think if someone was going to practice team bld seriously, this more intimate OLL naming system would come from it.

If you're going to be really serious about team BLD, you will want to have (a) names that are hard to confuse with each other, and (b) names that are a small number of syllables. A pure numbering system fails on part a and a system with long injokey names (like Sarah's) fails on part b. But describing the corners and then edges separately, with each one being one syllable that corresponds to the pattern, should satisfy both, and also be easy enough to remember that any teamBLD partner could quickly learn it all. It's similar to the push/pull/U method of doing F2L.

Edit: You know, it might be easier for recognition purposes to talk about which edges need flipping rather than which edges are solved. So flipping UB and UL would be easier to imagine as L rather than 7. I guess we should figure this out and standardize it now, before everyone starts using something inefficient :)

This was one of my first thoughts when I came up with this idea. However, I decided to go the way I did, because I feel that it's simply easier to visualize the OLL in your head if you are given the edges that are correctly oriented rather than if you are given the edges that are incorrectly oriented.

And you mean easier to imagine as J rather than F, correct?
