Just got a qj pyraminx crystal.
I knew it had issues with popping, but I didn't realize it was going to be THIS bad. Even if I try to make sure the layers are perfectly lined up, the edges get out of alignment when I turn it.
Its difficult for me to make a turn at all without something coming out of its place.

I've seen videos on youtube of people speedsolving this thing, and I just have to wonder... HOW? How can I turn it without the edges sliding all over the place on half of my turns?

Well I think they are probably the same thing. QJ makes some of mefferts puzzles for them dont they? It wouldn't surprise me if its the same puzzle just rebranded.
But anyway, the question still stands. Do you just have to keep practicing it and some how get a feel for how to turn better? Or is there some mod I can do to it? Something?

Did you lube yours with Jigaloo? That helps. It is also just a feel thing.

If you put it flat on a table when turning the upper layers, mine seems to be more stable.
