I just received my c4y gas assisted cube today and in my fit of excitement I happened to notice that two of the edge pieces were not like the others. The two in questions are recessed on 3 of the sides? I assume that this isn't normal, but rather a slight defect from the manufacturing process. Has this happened to anyone else? Also, should I email cube depot (the store I bought the cube from) for replacement pieces or email c4y? 1224001908.jpg

I haven't actually assembled the cube yet. I don't think it will affect the turning any, but it is a fairly deep recess so it's going to make the stickers sink into the hole causing an odd point when the sticker creases to fit into the hole. Plus it just looks bad IMO.

Maybe you should call cube depot if it does affect the turning,performance(lol).................... TO get a replacement (?)

Yea two of the dented faces on each piece are faces that would have stickers on them.

So, has anyone else had this issue or am I the first? I've done a few google searches but with no luck. I'm pretty sure that cube depot aren't replying to any emails until Monday so I guess I'm just stuck waiting until after the holiday weekend.

whether they reply to your emails or not doesn't change the fact that you will definitely be waiting longer than just the holiday weekend. Bummer man. Good luck.

I never understood that gas-assisted cube.
It was so much more expensive than all the other cubes ($20-ish?) and yet I wonder if its any significantly better than the other cubes out there (DaiYan/Alpha-V/Haiyan etc.)

Is that cube really worth bothering with?

Cube depot did email me back last night and thy are going to replace it for me so their A+ customer service rating is definitely continued. As for the cube it's self it only cost around $13 ($17.50 after shipping) so the price isn't too terrible. The main reason I decides to get one is the weight. After using my c4y 3x3x5 I really liked the extra weight of the cube and how smooth and almost stone like feel th cube had. Turns out the gas assisted and the 3x3x5 use very similar pieces so the cube has that same heavy solid feel that I was looking for in a 3x3. Also, because the pieces are solid the cube responds amazingly well to lube. I'll post a better review once I get the replacement parts and actually assemble the cube and use it for a little while.
